I just hope that those who passionately dislike JQ (for whatever reasons) just never fly them, simple.

Stick to your principles?

I wouldn't mind trying out the 787 for a few short haul flights. Need to find an airline that is flying them and try to fit it into the schedule somewhere along the way.

If it is out of the paint shop, one would assume that the delivery will be soon. When could we expect to find out the delivery flight details?

It's slated for a late September delivery.

saw on pprune a rumour that using the 787s, JQ would be taking over all flying to Japan and Honolulu from mainline!

Not sure about Japan but HNL has often been singled out as pulling in cash for QF even with the older 763 service.

That would be surprising.

Unsure about Japan loads / profits though.

I've done 4flights SYD/HNL on both JQ and QF all full, so it stands to reason it could be on cards with new bird.

The engine cowlings look white to me. Am I correct?

Shame if they are as I would have thought that silver to match the rest of the aircraft would be nicer; then again what do I know about design & fashion?

Something about Boeing saying you could only get white nacelles for airflow reasons
(query also whether the engines are leased like the A380)...

then BA got blue ones.

Reading this article, it sounds a little bit like it might be a case of how much you are willing to pay Boeing to certify your desired colour's suitability to sustain laminar flow:

Good point.

I think part of my point was that most LCCs are stand alone entities and do not have a parent such as Qantas giving them first dibbs at new aircraft on offer.

It almost feels like it Qantas wants Jetstar to succeed at the expense of Qantas.

I agree that the 787's may be the flashy toys of the fleet, but I think your logic may be a bit narrow here.

I wish I was a narrow as my logic! Seem to be getting wider all the time.

I think many a person on this forum has mentioned that JQ is the future entity which will day engulf QF and from the ashes it will reemerge as New QF.

Just found this on Instagram looks like JQ will be using the same seats as the new 737-800's, the seat pitch is a little tight, overall looks good!

I think I have been one of the ones mentioning that as well.

I just hope the takeover is not too soon as I would love to spend some of my Qantas points first.
