Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

I think many a person on this forum has mentioned that JQ is the future entity which will day engulf QF and from the ashes it will reemerge as New QF.

Just the current management appearance, a change of management would change the direction again.

Some additional pics here -

I think that the bird looks a bit dopey with silver body and white engine covers.

The 787 has limitations on what engine colours can be applied.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

I'd have though silver would be included. Looks odd, but I guess isn't terribly noticeable.

White or BAC 707 light gray only.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

...or BA Blue. But that probably would look even worse against a JQ silver fuselage.

At a considerable penalty for performance I believe.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Why does the colour affect the engine performance ?

Why does the colour affect the engine performance ?

"Aircraft drag is reduced because laminar flow has much lower skin friction drag than turbulent flow," said Ron Hinderberger, propulsion leader for the 787 program. "If you interrupt the laminar flow by adding paint layers, which are common with airline liveries, you could increase fuel burn by 30,000 gallons per year per airplane."

What that means is... you can have your Dreamliner in however many colors you want... as long as the engine nacelles are monochrome. For 787s sporting Boeing's blue-and-white livery, the nacelles will be gray... the better to match the aluminum intake inlet, Boeing says.

Maybe they have been able to come up with a thin enough blue paint now??

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Why does Jetstar and the media keep claiming that they have a "business class"

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

If the test Boeing 787s are grey, would have thought Jetstar would have picked it up.

Jetstar uses Business Class because they changed the name of StarClass to Business Class, and indeed the seats are the same as Qantas Business Domestic.
There is no real definition for business class.

Indeed even in First Class, American Airlines is using the Cirrus seats in its new cross-America services that Cathay uses in its new Business Class.

I can remember flying J on EK in 1996 and the seat then was pretty much what Jetstar offer now. At the time it was heaps better than Y, but nowadays pax are used to lie flat or near lie flat beds.

Per a post on plane talking, bird is in the air

As I write this, Jetstar’s first 787-8, VH-VKA, is in the air on its first flight as BOE215.
