Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

As these are going to replace the A330s, what is Qantas going to do with those?

There are 20 767s in Qantas' fleet, so there aren't enough soon to be ex-JQ A330s (10x) to replace them all?

According to the 'plan' all QF Group JQ A330's will come back to QF as each JQ 787 is received.

Here is hoping the new announcement is the new J seat for those QF birds!! (Secondary wish a confirmed A330 replacement for HNL flights)

That is why there is a lot of speculation as QF hasn't locked down exactly where the next batch of 787's will go....

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

No lie flat seats, that's a slight shame, as I would never fly in their J but would happily fly in their Y cabin.

I get what you are saying but I actually much prefer JQ keep a big gap in terms of a J offering v QF - they've done that on purpose and I completely agree why!

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Will have to try and get it on a JQ35 trip???

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

I would be quite happy to say that I had never flown in a JQ 787 (or any other JQ aircraft for that matter). 9Y and 30" seat pitch sounds very comfortable for long haul. No fuel surcharge at least.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

I wont mind at all if it CNS and if its out of Int. at SYD even better for 1st Lounge, this is a possibility for long haul training with this new bird, also read somewhere one of the first three 787's will be SYD/HNL too.

Looks better then the old 767's QF use to HNL

Sure will.

Did SYD/HNL last March we found 2nd row Y exit seats 35 unreal, could hardly touch seat in front, but 787 different beast.

Friend works at CNS airport catering said 787 will fly here thinks to either Japan or maybe even HNL, think latter far fetched. Says new catering trolleys have arrived for 787 already.

There are other posts around suggesting that the 767s are being replaced by A330s and 737s.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Questions include
- is it white or silver?
- do the economy seats recline?

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Flown on the 787's a few times with JL SIN-NRT-SIN definitely a step up on the usual Y offered by most airlines. I did notice that the cabin appeared to be more spacious and had that new plane feel. Not sure about the lighting and whether it was supposed to give a better experience, but then again, I am told I don't notice these subtle things in general.

As others have suggested, waste of a good aircraft with Jetstar.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

Screw the JQ haters, I can't wait to try it :)

Lots of rumours and guessing...!! QF have been painting 787 parking marks at terminals that only handle QF aircraft for a while as well..... ;) ;)

MEL T2 has got parking marks for B789's... and has had them since at least the start of 2012... I don't think it really says too much.

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good!

That colour scheme looks extremely ugly. As mentioned by Rooflyer what a waste of a perfectly goof 787!

But only those who don't bag JQ get an invite! ;)
That counts me out.

But can I still be guested by someone who has got an invite? :p

More guessing than rumours - based on trying to rationilise the Qantas fleet strategy based on what has been confirmed. There are no confirmed 787s coming with Kangaroos on them. The 789-9s would come after the 767s are currently scheduled to retire. Also, if Jetstar are going to be flying 787s on domestic routes for a couple of months, they're going to need to have terminals set up for them somewhere.
