Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

On Thursday 12 February 2026, JQ124 (A320 VH-XSJ), the scheduled 1515 hours VLI down to SYD took off at 1511, at least 19 minutes early. It diverted to NTL, becoming airborne at 1935 with gate arrival in SYD forecast for 2014 hours, 64 minutes late.

Was this a medical diversion?

JQ17 MEL-HKT diverted to PER yesterday. Aircraft is still on the ground in Perth.

Unsurprisingly, today's JQ7/8 has been cancelled.

The diverted VH-VKI back on its way to HKT as JQ17.

VKE currently seems to be a spare of sorts. Operated a JQ1007/1008 on Fri/Sat but has sat in MEL since.

Possibly a 2nd aircraft to go into refurb soon?

Gross. Do we know what reaccommodation options are available to people who booked a direct flight, if any?

And does the flight clear immigration in Melbourne or Darwin?
For posterity,

1. No accommodation. You go via DRW and get to SIN late. Any missed connections are handled by ground staff on arrival.
2. Clear immigration in MEL. At DRE the aircraft goes to a remote stand, everyone stays in their seats for an hour while they crack the doors to get a bit of air, clean the loos, refuel etc. and take off for SIN.

Anyone in J gets put in an exit row if possible, but besides that no accommodations like free food, blankets, amenities etc.

Because these are classified as equipment swaps and not cancellations they won’t move you to the QF flight to SIN. Even if it it saves you from missing a connection in SIN.

Will J customers get refund and status credits reinstated when they are swapped into a A321LR with no Business Class?

It seems that Jetstar really lacking Business Class on their flights which is so negatively impacting customer experience.

Better they install Business Class, or Jetstar should become another Spirit.
