Jetstar Cancellation Policy?

I have spoken with JQ and asked what the procedure is for cancelling a flight. The flight is a discounted fare, so immedialtely I understand the restrictions. My confusion is that I have heard varying storys.

They are:

1. No refund, only the original amount paid, less and admin fee, will be held in credit; or

2. No refund, No credit, bad luck (virtually the words used by JQ)

It is for a JQ International flight.

Has anyone had any exprience with this and might be able to clarify?

The fare rules are listed at Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd - Fare Types

If it is a Jetsaver fare:

refunds : not permitted

date/time changes -

International flights to/from Australia (excluding Trans-Tasman flights) operated by Jetstar (JQ): $50 per flight plus any fare difference

Domestic Australian and Trans-Tasman flights operated by Jetstar (JQ): $40 per flight plus any fare difference.

Flights operated by Jetstar Asia (3K) or Valuair (VF): $40 for each change plus any fare difference


So, I deduce that you can change to another date for $40 per flight but you cannot get a refund nor hold the fare in credit.

Hi just wanted to change my flight to another destination , they didn't let me because there were no flights around that date. And then said I can't get a refund either. So I was stuffed either way.

JQ is pretty good when compared to other low cost carriers (LCC's).

With most of the others, it's just more economical to rebook and forget your original booking.

I've just done that with a BLK-STN booking. Decided I didn't like the 11 pm arrival into STN when all trains were replaced with buses that day (no-one told me that when I made the booking - should've checked I suppose, as well as checking that the sky wasn't falling that day).

I've rebooked to fly LPL-SNN-STN for a grand total of approx GBP 12.00 (incl taxes), and it will get me in to STN before 6 pm (if on schedule). Also I get to wander about SNN airport if I wish (been there before, but).
