Jetstar B787 Reliability Issues

Pre covid it was quite common on the MEL-SIN flights. The JQ7 would get cancelled and you’d end up on QF J.

More recently with the cessation of HNL services JQ business has been mapped to QF premium economy.

My experience is that JQ looks after their business pax quite well, if they can.
Sounds good!

Same problem with these flights in Japan.
Ah this has just happened to us, and we’ve been booked onto “JQ8080” which is QF80 but I’m concerned due to the weird JQ code (airline staff said it’s not a flight they know) we’re going to be up for issues tomorrow! Can’t do checkin or seat selection etc as it’s a loop saying it’s a JQ flight goto Jetstar, then Jetstar says it’s a QF flight goto Qantas…

Have you tried the qantas booking ref?

First screenshot is Jetstar (it has a link to manage booking) which takes me to second screenshot - Qantas - which has a link to the first screenshot - it’s a loop haha I tell you what, after an 18 hour day I don’t really want to be thinking about this, but if we get bumped again their will be hellIMG_3137.jpegIMG_3136.jpeg

Ring Qantas and speak to a human, you might get lucky

I think you might just have to go to qantas tomorrow to check in as normal. There’s no reason for you to be bumped or anything else.

Phone staff are unlikely to know anything unless you can get through to Hobart.

If there are a lot of passengers transferring from the JQ to qantas flights there may not be the ability to select seats anyway before check-in.

Ended up getting a THIRD reference number overnight and that worked.

Managed to check in, our seats are shocking but the plane is full.

Will battle with Jetstar for refund on seat selection fee when I have energy in the coming weeks

One wonders what happened to the people who booked JQ business class.

Presumably with some pax onto QF35 and QF37 as well.
Or JQ43 via DPS. Or the next available JQ 7. Our experience in the last couple of years is extreme reluctance to put you onto QF.

Noticed tomorrow's JQ 7/8 have been cancelled.

VKG diverted to SIN earlier this week and is still there.

VKI has been grounded in NRT since earlier this week

VKJ has been in HKG for a few weeks for assumed engineering.

I highly doubt they'll offer that move. Likely to offer next flight or downgrade to QF economy.

You're talking about price difference that would border close to double sometimes.
Jetstar will rebook you into QF J if there is no alternative JQ availability and a flight is disrupted within their control. That is a part of their customer recovery process, so unless things are really bad and there is no QF availability, or the cancellation/extreme delay was outside of their control, they will rebook you into J.

This is a JQ 'recovery' flight which is created when PAX need to be accommodated by QF.

The flight is operated by QF, and, as I'm sure you know now, check in and all other admin is done with QF. The code is a bit like a codeshare, and simply ensures the ticket is kept in JQ's control. JQ and QF use separate ticketing systems, so they can't just transfer your PNR across to QF, which is why it comes up like this.

Just an FYI in case anyone else comes across this.
