Jetstar Asia legs on Qantas premium redemption

I think the SQ/TPR situation is slightly different. It is an unadvertised benefit of SQ F that you can use TPR as an arrivals lounge, regardless of any onward flights.

Hmmm, not slightly different, exactly the opposite! SQ recognise the F leg and allow access based on that, QF don’t.
Not a deal breaker, as I was aware before I booked, it just surprises me. To be fair though, my last QF flight was circa 2012 so it’s not something I’ve paid oodles of attention to.

I assume you’re talking to me given I said I’m not complaining?
I’m not a Qantas elite, so that’s really irrelevant to me, I’m not familiar with what the cool kids can and can’t access! I also explicitly said I’m happy given I’ve been able to access the F segment (being bronze).

Just surprised, that’s all. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if the same situation arose flying SQ, I’d be in TPR before my scoot flight!

Sorry, I thought you meant you were other oneworld elite, just not Qantas.

But the point remains, it’s a LCC. They let you book it with frequent flyer points but you don’t get any perks - this is the same for most LCCs around the world, like the ones I mentioned.

I have just made a sweet redemption for April - MEL-SIN-CGK in QF F and 3K (Jetstar Asia) Y - and CGK-SIN-MEL in 3K Y and EK F. It would have been even sweeter if I had made it a fortnight ago. :)

I take it you've got a JQ booking reference?

If so got to the JQ website and see if it'll let you add a free food voucher. It seems to be a thing that you can add a $10 or $5 voucher for $0 (when booked via QF). Let us know if it's possible cause I've only tried it with JQ operated flights.

Not surprised at all to not get perks from a LCC, am just surprised when your ticket has a F leg followed by an Y leg (booked through the non LCC cause that's all that's offered on that flight - actually I think that's all that's offered by Qantas on that route!) the premium leg isn't recognised in any way during the stopover.

I don't doubt there are other examples of OneWorld / LCC combos, it doesn't change that I'm still surprised! Prior to this I've witnessed when the second leg is forced into a lower class lounge access is available based on the premium leg. Appreciate a sample size of two has limitations...!

And yes, I am flying SQ on the way home, ;-)

No - when I go to the add meals section on the Jetstar website I get "This flight is on another airline, so please go to that airline's website to purchase any meals".

I have only flown internationally with Jetstar once before - a family trip MEL-DPS and it went without incident. I have also flown Air Asia a couple of times with connecting flights and again no drama. The down-side with Air Asia out of Melbourne is they fly from AVV where parking is expensive and public transport options are limited.

The miles required were identical, with or without CGK, as the overall distance fell within the same price bands. The fees might have been slightly more so it wasn't entirely a free good - but I looked at alternative paid SIN-CGK routes and they were less attractive than tacking on the Jetstar legs.
Appreciate the reply. (I have now gained more knowledge, thankyou!)

Hmm thats odd. There is a thread about in on AFF however it's worth noting that JQ has in the last few months changed their website which could be why you're getting that error as they might have shut down the free vouchers.

Now got through to ordering meals by doing a different combination of clicks. The $10 voucher costs $9.50 and the $20 voucher costs $19.
