i have been told that the leading edge flap came off - caused a minor loss in lift - the wing dipped... - lucky not close to the ground at the time

the leading flap is in the sea.

If this happened then an incident report would be required to be lodged with CASA, so there'd be a record of it somewhere.
 
Still nothing on the Aviation Herald… they’ve done well to keep it quiet this long.


The Aviation herald is not the greatest source, and will probably feature something when the ATSB weekly report is published.

Are you sure it was Jestar:?: QF 824, B767 had a local standby and landed safely in Darwin at about 0300 UTC yesterday with a leading edge issue.

I think you are on to something, no JQ cancellations yesterday but my favourite QF825 was cancelled! VH-OGJ
