does anyone have any information relating to two recent jetstar flights

one inbound to Darwin today 10/1/12 - strange noises and reported mechanical issues

one Melbourne to Bangkok 3/1/12 - on approach - large bang & shudder - rocking and uncomfortable drop - then glide into land

  1. heard about it form persons on the flights
  2. i am trying to understand if it is the same jet
  3. then i would like to gain understanding of what is going on,;- is there something to be concerned about?
do you have a conenction to/with JS

I doubt they are the same plane. Melbourne to Bangkok is an a330 service, while Darwin would likely be an a320 service.

Sent from my HTC Legend using AustFreqFly

Or maybe a few ultra nervous flyers forgot their Xanax or Murelax at home?

Meant no disrespect sorry, just sounded like an odd question from a new member…

AV-H has nothing on the site for 3/1/12

Welcome to AFF Skeg!

And yes Welcome, where are my manners.

Has NoNews decided to tap AFF as a "source" perhaps? :D

That’s all I was thinking, it just seemed a little odd ;)

i understand todays event in darwin has led to the jet being taken out of service

Would it be possible for you to post a link showing where you found this information? I just did a quick search and found nothing, and there’s nothing on AVHerald as munitalP says, yet…

Wonder if that carbon tax will help stop the polluters ;)

Nope - regulation of the electrical generation industry will go a long way, moving the dirty coal fired stations out of the cities and building new clean coal fired or nuclear stations 2 or 300 km away from the cities, building a standard power grid, then target the rest of the polluting industries burning coal and oil.

I wont live to see it, the RMB greed is too great in China to stop - especially while Audi build A8's...

When I travel with certain relatives I get asked these exact questions every single time. My favourite is the look of sheer terror when the Airbus A320 is taxiing with the power transfer unit making weird noises. For some reason when I try to give an explanation to my limited ability the passenger instantly becomes so bored they forget to be scared. Re the OP. if nothing has come up since a combination of landing gear deploying and some turbulence could explain all of this if the passenger is scared.

Hydraulic oil transfer between accumulators pumps? It could be frightening if you didn't know what it was!

Even if there were indeed issues, I'm confident that the crew would've dealt with them accordingly. It's simply part and parcel of air travel. The fact is, I feel that most of the reported don't really deserve any mentions apart from being able to post heavily dramatised events on slow news days.

i have been told that the leading edge flap came off - caused a minor loss in lift - the wing dipped... - lucky not close to the ground at the time

the leading flap is in the sea.

I think you mean Slat, flaps are not on the leading edge.
