I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on here yet. Apparently Jetgo are going to start flying from Brisbane to Singapore next year via Karratha (of all places!) using Embraer E175s.

An interesting move that I certainly would not have predicted. I wonder if this route will work for them? I'd be interested to give them a try if the prices are competitive, although I expect they probably won't be if you're flying BNE-SIN.

There is presently a lot of demand to Singapore on all routes from Oz.

I'm sure there are plenty of Rio workers who would love an option like this.

Is this just better aircraft usage, or is there genuinely sufficient demand here (presumably between Karratha and Sin?)

Amazing route.

Well that is a surprise. I'm not sure I'd want to fly BNE-SIN in an E175, but it does open up the BNE-KTA which may be far more attractive than via PER (I'm not sure how big the FIFO market to KTA is).

Silk is also going to increase flights between CNS-SIN.

I wonder if they’ll be encouraging BNE-SIN bookings, or if this is really designed for Karratha passengers flying BNE-KTA and KTA-SIN.

Innovative route and probably all about the resource industry in KTA with its links to SIN (oil/gas and iron ore).

Sort of reminds me of the obviously niche defence focussed routes that Air North also fly - such as DRW-TSV-TWB.

These are routes that traditional airline economists would never consider to be viable, but given the large distances and presumed yield and time savings these things can sometimes work.

Fun fact - BNE-KTA was/will be the longest domestic route (by distance) in Australia. Since QF terminated the route a while ago, that prize was handed back to BNE-PER.

Good fact. I would have put money on it being MEL-BME

BNE-KTA flights are now on sale apparently with flights starting in late June. Singapore flights are still on the horizon but "considerably more work is needed". Media Release: Commencement date for Brisbane – Karratha services - JETGO Australia

JETGO Australia will provide direct flights between Karratha and Brisbane from the 25th June subject to final regulatory approval.

The twice weekly service will utilise a 98 seat Embraer E190.
...
From late September JETGO is planning to add flights between Karratha and Singapore, however considerably more work is needed before these flights can commence.
