Flying jetstar on a 10 hour international flight.

2 adults and 3 children between 5-10.

If we don't select seating before the flight, what are the chances that jetstar will seat everyone apart?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Use a multitude of different browsers etc the site is terrible. The App still won’t let me pick and pay for seats without getting error. I was doing seat selection once and it displayed someone else’s booking.

I don't think they would split up a family with 3 children under 10. Then again, this is Jetstar so you never really know.

If it worries you, just pay for the seats.

The system will seat everyone in the same booking together. If on a 787, I'd say you'll get seated 3x2, most likely across the aisle from each other. Up to your family who sits where among those 5 seats.

Jetstar won't randomly scatter all 5 of you across the cabin.

10 hours is a long time on Jet*. Good luck with that.
As others have said, get there early.
Where are you flying from / to?

Not the same situation but it is related to seating.

I've paid for a JQ return OOL-SYD for tomorrow and Sunday. I've added Starter Plus and chosen seats.

I've then booked a Qantas award for my 2 year old daughter on the same flights. Used Online Chat and the agent wanted a non-refundable $24 for my daughters seats which I refused to pay and Jetstar being Jetstar, well you know where this is going.

Wise choice? LOL. I wonder what will happen at the airport tomorrow.

Ended up in 2A & 2B on both flights. ;)

Had a shadow on OOL-SYD flight on what was a relatively full flight. Daughter well behaved.

This is probably a thread necro, but Melbourne to coughet on Jetstar 2 adults and a 6 yr old and an 8 yr old.

Each person sat in a row by themselveds.

I was of the opinion that minors would not be split, but this flight had multiple examples of splits like these.

I suspect the system will give priority to those who paid to seat select then passengers travelling together then single passengers. If most people paid to seat select, I can imagine what’s left are random seats here and there.
In the end JQ want you to donate more money.
