A different flavour for this part of the forum. From the LA Times:
KFC in the air: Japan Airlines to serve fast food on holiday flights

KFC is taking airplane food to a whole new level, pairing with Japan Airlines to serve its fast-food chicken on holiday flights between Tokyo and eight U.S. and European destinations.

The chain's Japanese operation will provide a meal of a drumstick, chicken breast, flat bread, coleslaw and "special mayonnaise" to passengers on select trips out of Narita Airport from Dec. 1 through Feb. 28.

The so-called Air Kentucky trays will be served during the second mealtime in the premium-economy and economy-class sections of planes bound for Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Boston, Chicago, London, Paris and Frankfurt.

Credit also to One Mile At A Time blog for leading me to the original story.

Guess this is a fast way out of having to conceive the second service, which can be pretty poor in Y and W on many airlines.

I think comedian John Pinette once remarked that KFC was the culinary equivalent of crack.

I hope this doesn't have passengers crying fowl over their food choices. I appreciate JAL trying to drum-up support for this move - at least they're keeping future passengers abreast of the changes.

(I'll let myself out).

To be fair, if I read correctly it's KFC for the second service only. This serving before landing is usually pretty lame in Y (few airlines excepted). When I flew SEA-NRT in UA Y, the options were veggies and rice, or a turkey and cheese sandwich. The worst part is that the sandwich was infinitely better than what I got for the first service.

It would be best. And I hope you don't get hvr started or we'll descend into more chicken jokes. ;)
