JAL to introduce Premium Economy

And JAL fares seem to price out pretty cheaply at times! :D

I wonder about the prospect of SYD or BNE getting the new service though. The last time I tried to book a JL flight it returned as "JL for JO." I understand that JO (rather unfortunate IATA code there...) is their lower cost arm. So "JL for JO" might mean a lower standard of service and thus not getting PE-equipped planes?

I would not expect to see it coming to Australia any time soon. Certainly the BNE flight all seem to be JALways operations.

But if you are willing to route via NRT, then a good option may be economy to NRT and then premium economy through to Europe or USA.

This growth of PE is definitely a worry for the business traveller - I can see more companies exploring this as an option... someone should tell them of "the war for talent" ;)

note that in many cases, PE is of a similar standard (seat comfort and other amenities) as business class was around 10 years ago. Aircraft classes go in cycles ;) .

But 10 years ago I wasn't flying international business class ;)
I wish I could say the same  . It must be nearly time for me to hang up the passport and get a life.
