hi, anyone know if QF still use the old angle skybeds anywhere?
I am looking to go J in either QF81 Syd-Sin in Dec, and seat guru says the seats are angle flat on the A330. The alternate could be going through BNE on QF51, the 747.

thanks

Go through Brisbane, its usually the refurb but not always.

Just out of curiosity, does the angled vs lie flat seat make that much difference for the outbound sector given it's a day time flight? Enough to warrant adding an extra 2hr 40min to the travel time (including 1.5 hours on the inferior B767 recliner plus a domestic to international transfer)?

In my case, I'd spend the time inflight either eating, drinking or watching movies, none of which require being fully flat so I'd rather settle into the Mk I and go the direct option.

Note: this is slightly OT as I assume kiwitripper is coming from NZ and would have to fly to either SYD or BNE first. My question directed at travel from Oz.

Those Skybed Mk1 seats are the worst angled-flat seat I've ever experienced! But, they're still better than economy...

I will be starting from AKL & I may be getting home late from PER the night before. With a 7am AKL dept, I might try for a catch up sleep to SIN.
Thanks for advice

It makes a significant difference as there is also the IFE differences, not to mention what often is a free 40 SC.

I was on QF 82 in August and I slept like a baby. Until the crew decided it was time to wake everyone up for that joke called "cafe breakfast", anyway.

You may have better luck on QF5/6 which is normally a 747, and a refurb half the time.
QF5 leaves much later than QF81, but there isn't much timing difference between QF6 and QF82, both being overnights.
