Hey all, I am flying J for the first time ever, and it was only because it was literally the cheapest option to get out of Canberra on Anzac Day eve.

QF483 is one of the few 737-800's out of CBR it seems, but is it one of the newer 738s or the older ones? It's my first J experience (worst route to do it on given it'll be shortlived) and just want to know what to expect.

Cheers :)

you probably won't know until the day given they can rotate anywhere...

Not sure - but given its seat maps show dedicated J - you might be lucky. Hope you enjoy the experience (and that it is not rough as last time I came back from MEL in J the meal service was really cut - it was a matter of shove it down and give back the tray, no coffee and one wine :)

I thought ALL the 738's had a dedicated J section of 12 seats and it is only the 734's that have the variable cabin. The OP's question was is the a/c going to be old 738 or new 738, which as answered above is it depends, though through shear weight of numbers old is more likely.

Agreed - My only point was between the 8s and 4s (shown to fly the route on other days) and which are really "bodgy" and yes, given the numbers old is more likely but one can always live in hope as they say.

I find both hard products similar - not much difference for such a short flight!

I agree on such a short flight
I'd get to Airport early and enjoy the J Lounge.

What's the J lounge in CBR like, in particular could you comment on the food? I've been to CBR QP before and was a bit underwhelmed by the food options there.

It is probably one of the best domestic J lounges on the Qantas network. Food wise no different to any other domestic J lounge. Only bad thing is the fact it looks onto the courtyard between the carpark and terminal. Not sure what food options you are after, it's not like it is a restaurant, like say the Sydney Int F lounge!

Not long to go now, hope you share a trip report with us!!

The general rule, IME, for QF domestic business lounges is - the same food selection as the Qantas Club*, plus an exclusive highlight item, which changes regularly throughout the day (to suit the time of day), and island dining available at main meals (with a set dish served). * Some hot options available in the QP, particularly in the evening, might not be available in the JL, as the JL serves an alternative highlight. So by that standard, the QP sometimes has an exclusive item that the JL doesn't.
