Have just completed a J class around world trip with One world carriers .
QF Mel to LA
QF LA-JFK
AA JFK-CDG
IB CDG-MAD
IB MAD-LHR
QF LHR-Mel

QF Business class seats as expected even entertainment systems worked

AA Seats quite good on par with QF Capsule, but entertainment system was like a portable laptop place in holder in front of you, but flight attendants took them away whilst we were asleep, appears thes are collected an hour before landing so you had nothing to watch or listen to.

IB This comment may be valid for Europe and not transatlantic Buisines class seats exactly same a economy 3 abreast .
What they do is leave middle seat empty. Is a cordened of cabin No entertainment screens

long trip 6 weeks but the J class made it easier.

Fursten:)

I think the intra-europe J is very similar across IB/AY/BA - on BA the centre seat is actually a half seat so my fat a$$ must take up a little more than the whY seat.

I am guessing you had the new AA business class? A lie flat bed?

think the comment re the entertainment system in a holder gives it away

but entertainment system was like a portable laptop place in holder in front of you

I assume this was cheaper for AA is it means no central distribution system and less power to the seat, just a lot of entertainment units with batteries to charge

The bed was lay flat and as good as capsule. Although came back in bubble from LHR and got PJs for first time is this new for J class or only on the really long haul, did not get when went to LAX on outward leg, or is it only in the bubble?
The entertainment units are powered by a point which you can plug laptop in.
Not impressed by this but who am I to complain I only bought two tickets.

Assume you are referring to the QF legs.
Nothing to do with the bubble, just for some reason QF decided that you would only get PJs on some flights.

Believe this is still the only flights:
QF 1 Bangkok - London
QF 2 London - Bangkok
QF 9 Singapore - London
QF 10 London - Singapore
QF 12 Los Angeles - Sydney
QF31 Singapore - London
QF 94 Los Angeles - Melbourne
QF 108 Los Angeles - Sydney
QF150 Los Angeles - Sydney

I am assuming it is all flights that start late evening that dont fly from Oz...

If that is the case, then surely QF5/6 should also be on the list?

Nope. That is a 2-class. It seems it must be a 3-class flight to be important enough for such services  .

Geez there may be 30 classes of fares (on a quiet day!) but I don't know about a 30 class flight.

Still if any group can come up with 30 different flight classes it would have to be this one.

Sorry NM but this one was too good to let slip by.

LOL, just make sure you are not in the lowest class on that aircraft

So try and read again now that I have edited the original post ;) .

So my understanding is to get the Qantas PJs in J class is to have your own on outward flights from Oz pack them in suitcase on return leg if longhaul, get a Qantas pair and undress where? 60 people how many J class toilets?

That seems crazy - I get pyjamas in J on QF 94 coming back from US. What about on QF93 going over? I would prefer to get them going over and then forgo them on the way back.

Perhaps QF could introduce a rule that each passenger (so this via the QFF number) is only entitled to one pair of PJs in any quarter (ie 3month period) no matter how much they fly!

Yes, they pick and choose.
LON-HK they say is a "day flight" so no pjs yet it is longer than LON-SIN.
And they turn the lights out for 9 hrs, so people sleep !!!!

I flew the QF30 which is London -Hong Kong- Mel flight and it was only on this one that I got the PJs on the London-Hong Kong leg

The biggest discrepancy is LAX-BNE when it leaves around the same time and is only marginally shorter than LAX-SYD/MEL. But I guess as it so warm up there, you QLD'ers don't wear PJ's anyway ;)

(I note that also LAX-AKL-MEL don't have PJ's either and although a short trans-pac flight it is still longer than BKK-LHR).

Both QF176 LAX-BNE and QF26 LAX-AKL-MEL are 2-class services. One of the criteria for business class PJs is that it must be a 3-class flight. How QF justify this discrimination of the long-haul international business class product between 2 and 3 class services is beyond my comprehension.

It's not a requirement that it be a 3-class service - there is nothing to stop other services getting Pyjamas. They just happen to be the only aircraft currently offering them on those selected services. The introduction of pyjamas has been well recieved and they exteneded it to 2 more services about 2 months ago. I imagine if the feedback continues to be positive it will be extended to 2-class aircraft services such as Brisbane and Auckland.

I wonder what QF do with all those luvverly pj's left behind:rolleyes:

They're probably handled in the same way as those luvverly hand towels that are given out before meal services :D

Now where's my industrial strength pair of tongs!

It is Qantas' decision that no PJs are provided on ANY 2-class service. The only flight that get PJs are selected 3-class services. It is my belief that Qantas treat the 3-class flights are being more important to them than the 2-class flights. In my opinion, there is no other explanation for QF12, 108 and 150 all getting PJs and QF176 not qualifying, except that QF176 is a 2-class service and goes to BNE and not to SYD. In my view this is discriminatory behaviour towards passengers who are no travelling their premium routes.

I hope QF will start to treat all long-haul business class flights with the same service levels.
