Is this acceptable (to put your shoes on the couch in the lounge?)

I see this sort of behaviour was not too disimilar as kids standing on the sofa with their shoes on.

Wasnt there a sign on Sydney Trains (or was it the Tube?) that said no feet on the chairs?
