Exactly. Hardly going to kill you if there's dirt or germs that get on your shorts/trousers/skirt etc. My reference to bum on seat is what you use the seat for (sitting), not suggesting you'd add dirt to it with a naked cough!!

I see this sort of behaviour was not too disimilar as kids standing on the sofa with their shoes on.

Wasnt there a sign on Sydney Trains (or was it the Tube?) that said no feet on the chairs?
