Going on a Europe holiday June/July 20. France, Germany, switz, Aust, Neth, Italy, Thailand, > home to Syd. (in that order.)
Lucky Italy is last.

Question: I was trying to look up OTHER countries travel restrictions. eg Thailand's. I don't want to be stuck in Thailand for 2 weeks because I've been to Italy. (Venice Rome Sorrento). So wondering if AFFers have a secret weapon...some Thunderbirds style database where all countries' travel restrictions are centrally monitored. ?

Does the link below help?

IATA - International Travel Document News

AUSTRALIA. 5. Passengers who have transited through or have been in Italy on or after 5 March 2020 will go through medical screening upon arrival.

I get it, but THATs a worry. I don't want to be sick, but I don't want to be quarantined either. We seem to be asking to self isolate however, rather than quarantine.

Unfortunately, these things can change without any notice.

If you ask nicely, perhaps they could put you on The Island for two weeks. 😀

Thailand is a bit of a worry. They have a health minister who is a loose cannon.A couple of days ago he announced that people who had visited the countries with the 5 highest number of infections would not be allowed entry to thailand.A few hours later he was over ruled and only restrictions on China and parts of Korea.
Before that he threatened to deport any European who wasn't wearing a mask.
So what might happen in Thailand in the next few weeks is impossible to predict.

REALLY??? I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
It's a hotbed of 'business as usual' in Bangkok at the best of times.
I can see myself holed up in the hotel. :/

The TIMATIC database - used by check-in staff should be updated in real time. You can access this through various sites - such as United Airlines or Emirates. But given it is real time, it could change between leaving home and arriving at the airport. If you pull a stunt like Australia and ban passengers mid-flight, there's not going to be a lot you can do :(

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Absolutely. and thanks, that's a great resource.
Just looking at my itinerary, it's a nightmare, coming from Italy home through Doha, and in BKK for 3 days. ..but it's 3 months away, so ....looking at about 6,917 changes before then.

You should be fine, as long as in the interim the virus goes ballistic pandemic. Then you will just be riding the after wave of infection and should have no real dramas, other than those that the virus has caused. But expect no availability of healthcare in any country.

How good is THAT!!!!
this is a dumb question, but do you think it's updated all the time?
Thankyou so much for that link. That certainly makes it easier. I was reading US embassy news, for each country. A trek.

It does appear to have been updated today but as others have said the situation is quite fluid.

All credit to the member who originally posted the link on here, can't remember who it was though.

I think that's going to happen much sooner than we all think.
I'm presuming now that many countries are already in the grip of epidemic but are not 'worldly' enough to bother to report it, or perhaps the resources, or the style of government. I think the whole 'reporting' saga is wildly inaccurate, even nonsensical.
I think your statement is probably more accurate than funny.. India, Indonesia, and the like.....impossible to have so few cases. Little attention to detail, even less care - probably just throwing their hands in the air - 'well what can WE do about it?' I tend to agree. Sad but true.

and a side note. I thought that channel 7 was pretty rancid, putting the movie "Outbreak" on, right after the Covid19 information evening.

As I noted in another thread, for one, it doesn’t include Malta at the moment. I’m there now and a week so I received a list of countries which, if I had visited recently, worked prevent my entering Malta. So beware.

Hmm.

So smarttraveller states that pax arriving from a number of countries may be required to enter self imposed quarantine for 14 days. But does not state any exclusions. This is reflected in TIMATIC, which would allow pax to board their flight at origin.

I can't work out how to get onto Timatic. I looked at United Airlines, but ?? Can you explain Mel Trav?

So it's usually found under the 'visa and travel requirements' section (or wording to that effect, depending on the airline site).

here's the link to the one provided through Emirates: Visa and Passport | Before You Fly | Emirates Australia

This is the identical thing check-in staff will see, and will determine whether you get to fly. Arrival restrictions can of course be different - for example if you are required to 'self-quarantine' that will be advised to you once you get there, if required.

As an aside - not all airline 'visa' sections link to TIMATIC. Some link to information which are a front end for visa services that will try to sell you a visa. QF was like this for a while, giving incorrect information about China. The Emirates and United sites are ok though.
