Surely we do not need to legislate proper social etiquette. Being an cough is not illegal, sadly.

I agree.

Reading those definitions you posted (thank you) are interesting but we all know we can get into trouble if we're taking pictures at the beach or swimming pools and the like and some gyms have rules to prevent well.. you know what I'm getting at. Then t becomes really murky - eg if I am in a gym, that could be a public place as definited,as I pay entry fee/membership yet many gyms have specific rules about such things (which I personally have no issue with)... so which is more applicable? I mean can a private business, be it a swimming pool operator, a gym, or an airline or lounge operator's rules specifically override those of the law as posted? I do not know the answer.

The other issue is that laws in different places will be different. eg: a TR taking in say LAX, SYD and KUL will cross multiple boundaries and laws as to what is acceptable (I would imagine that Malaysian law would be more restrictive, for example).

I know this is spinning off topic, but it raises a number of issues in my mind.. all of which could be avoided by some considerate and common sense behaviour.

pedeos, upskirting other disgusting behaviours just put a check on normal people's acts in society. Someone taking a socially conservative approach certainly doesn't change the law.

Certainly not defending the pictures that were taken for the trip report in question. That is unacceptable behaviour, just noting that the law might be on their side. This is afterall how papparazzi get away with their cough.

Not many AFFers complain when pictures are posted on AFF. Perhaps a bit of a double standard to complain just because they don't like the contents of the trip report?

Paparazi take pics from public spaces – though often with long lenses – which is why they get away with it.

If they were allowed to take pictures in lounges, they would surely be able to release more pics – but you don’t see any pics in there for a reason.

There are many pictures of celebs taken in airports.

... and the airport celeb pics are focused on the public figures rather than random members of the public, and the celebrities are well aware of what is going on, and if a member of the public gets somehow in the shot it's not like they are unaware.

And while you often see on TV news reports where, for example, footballers or others are interviewed in airport checkin or arrival areas and there's often people going to/fro in the background that's something different to taking pictures of SPECIFIC individuals in lounges or on board (eg the passenger shaming pictures noted in the TRs). I find this aspect far more distasteful than the broad "people sitting in lounge" pictures, though I still think some of them could have been done with more tact (eg on another recent TR by the SFO777 there was a lounge view pic with front and centre a young lady n her phone, along with countless others... the picture didn't do much more than to illustrate that the lounge was busy.. I don't know that it was absolutely required on top of the ext description but to me that's not as bad as posting "this so-and-so was loud on his phone in the lounge" and then show pictures of said person specifically, or "staff were going through the aircraft..." with 6 pictures of staff members... I find that unacceptable myself (and in no way improving the TRs in any way that I can tell and in fact making it seem like the author wants to focus more on these things than other aspects of the experiences).

And I wrote "lounges" not airports. Very different scenarios.

Not at all. I doubt Papps can get into lounges or would pay for membership. Remember they would have to be flying to access the lounge. plus in most other countries you need a ticket to get into the departures area. So I'm simply stating that the reason you don't see pictures in lounges from those types is because of logistics, not because it isn't a public space.

Not at all. There are high rewards in some instances, and if they're willing to risk arrest for example as has happened (which has more disruption and potential cost), then the cost of an annual fee for lounge access and a refundable ticket would be no issue at all.

The issue is it isn't a public space, and the operators would take swift action if taken advantage of in that manner.

The ever-forthright SFO777 is back on Qantas again, this time in J.

His conclusion on his LAX-SYD flight on the Qantas A380:

I am curious about the free world comment. My question is why is it relavent and who does it include. SQ, CX, EK, Qatar, certainly aren’t free world airlines and most US plus BA and AF who may think they are aren’t much chop either.
