Is QF using the DXB works to test new QF9 tweeks

I had no idea this was happening and I'm supposed to be flying to Ireland at 930 and I've booked that flight. What's the likelihood of qf letting me change my flight to the day before for free?
No problem, as long as there is capacity on the day you want. We changed one for a similar reason and all went through smoothly. Good luck. :)

I received two emails from Qantas yesterday saying my flights times had changed. When the initial panic subsided - i actually logged in and saw the change...
Flying mid Aug 2014 QF9 MEL LHR - leaves 10 minutes earlier - now 15:15 instead of 15:25.
Lands 10 minutes later 05:40 instead of 05:30.

Return trip also changed - mid Sept QF10 LHR to MEL leaves 5 minutes earlier - now 22:25 instead of 22:30.
Lands 10 minutes later 05:25 instead of 05:15.

hmmm, I didn't receive an email. Only saw it when logging to my account to book car hire.

Change for me for my flight SIN - SYD in April. Now departing an hour later at 23.25, arriving at 10.15. Also changed from a 747 to a A330-300.

Wondering how will meal services change with this new schedule. Probably still be dinner and supper for MEL-DXB?
QF used to do all-day dining for F menus, could this be re-launched for DXB-LHR?

Ahhh NOOOO! Just saw this change when looking at MEL-DXB-LED in July. We are doing MEL-DXB-VCE in March with a break in Dubai (the 23.25 arrival gave you time to check in to an airport hotel for a few hours rest before continuing on). Now with a 3.15 arrival time that's going to make a stopover pretty much useless.

Can you go a day earlier, I suspect QF would accomodate you.

Hmm, but it means paying for two nights accommodation when you used to get by with one...

Yes it does, although it's likely you would be arriving at 5AM and I hear DXB hotels are very accommodating when it comes to early checkin. Alternatively look at one night at the Holiday Inn express at DXB then move to a preferred hotel, it's around $100.

QF1 has also been changed to 1715 ex SYD. The more tourist friendly arrival times for QF9 have been noted above in other posts; QF1 now has similar.

It would be interesting to know how many are annoyed by these changes. I suspect only those who have prebooked, tight air or train connections or the even smaller number who have booked an 0900 or 1000 business meeting in London. On balance, since leisure travellers must be the majority, most would be pleased at these temporary changes. It is however surprising that LHR had slots available.
