Is Hobart the worst Qantas Club in Australia?

Worst lounge in Australia is in Karratha!

It needs an upgrade!

Now

Now waiting at HBA - QC closed. It states on their mobile site open till last departure (on web site it says till last "QF" departure). Either way there are QF flights departing to SYD and MEL at 19:40 and 20:15 and when we got into airside the QC is closed and says it is open till 4.50pm daily. WTF - why not say that on your web site and not set false expectations? Although I did buy JQ tickets, no doubt there are QF pax on the QF flight number and they would expect the QC to be still open..... Given this thread it sounds like we didn't miss out on much - other than wasting our money on the poor food and beverage options in the departure area :(

I believe they are JQ operated flights with a QF codeshare (flight number).

AFAIK, currently QF1016 (dep @ 1650) is the last QF (operated) flight to leave HBA.

I Think Karratha is way up there on the top of the list for the worst QC lounge and yes it has dedicated Qantas (QF) service many times a day.

Karratha really needs an update!

The lounge in Hobart, albeit still tiny, has improved somewhat in it's feeling of "spaciousness" since changing their access to airside.

Staff are always extremely friendly and efficient, checking boarding passes to ensure only legitimate access is gained. I believe they do the best they can with what they have. Just ensure you arrive early for your flight..!!! :p

I've only ever walked in, then straight out of Hobart! Too hard to find two available seats remotely near each other!

Likewise, wasn't even standing room available when we were the in feb.

Yes, HBA lounge usually too crowded and I prefer the general departure area.

Problem is the whole terminal needs knocking down and re-built. Last upgrade was pre Virgin and when they came on the scene, the whole thing was instantly too small again. Virgin arrivals use the old 'international' wing, requiring a very long open air apron walk to get inside. Virgin is looking at trying to squeeze a lounge in ... somewhere.

However .. the airport majority equity owner is Macquarie Bank, and they have no intention of spending a cracker on HBA beyond what they have to (eg recent landing lights upgrade). But when they do eventually HAVE to spend capex for passenger amenity - be prepared to be bled white as they increase airline fees which in turn will be passed onto pax.

HBA QC closes with the late afternoon QF flight(s) which are usually the last QF flights of the day - sounds as though the 7pm QF flights were a special Easter service. I have noticed that QCs close generally with the last QF flight and tough luck if you are on a later evening JQ flight.

no updates since last year... so wondering if this lounge still closes at 16.50 after last qf flight or stays open later for jetstar codeshare flights

The last time I was there it closed with the boarding call for the last QF flight shortly before 5. It's the same policy at other QP, BNE is another example where the QP closes with the last QF flight and tough if you have a later JQ flight.

Adelaide used to be exactly the same, but now luckily if you are on the later JQ flight from ADL-MEL the lounge stays open for the Emirates flight.
