Is AFF running slower than usual for anybody?

This is the first time I have been able to get onto the site since Saturday, however clicking 'What's New?' still gives no results. I have received a few email notifications for threads I have been subscribed to over the weekend, so obviously some people were able to access the site, but I kept getting an error message or one type or another.

my AFF has just come back online as well.... it 'conveniently' went offline around the time qantas went pear shaped...and just came back as qantas resumed operations....my mind was full of conspiracy theories!!!

Admin advises: We are aware that AFF has been down. Date centre is currently installing new memory (in fact, that should now be done). There may be another outage today when we upgrade OS to 64 bit.

For me the slowness started with the QF AGM. I expect it is due to higher traffic arising from the QF grounding and lots of people looking to berate QF, find alternatives to flying QF and explore other programs. I think that the QF grounding might be good for AFF as it might increase traffic ;)

What a time for the site to go down, or have maintenance issues, when the national carrier tries to shoot itself in both feet!!! :)

Not intended as a being critical, but it is and has been slower. Originally thought it was my end, but it would seem not.

During the weekend had several periods where I couldn't could access the site at all or could see some pages but none of the forum pages. Started after little Alan made his grounding statement  on Friday.

Matt
Ps, not overly worried about the speed anyway.

Dont you mean when the national carrier shoots the union leaders in both feet?

On topic- Todays Posts - working again!

Site should now be back to normal with full functionality. Actually, it should be much better than "normal" :)

I will provide a full explanation once I am satisfied that our technical support staff (at the Data Centre and server administrator) have truly "nailed" the problem.

Again, I do apologise for the poor response time and very flakey service over the last few days. Obviously, I was very unhappy with what happened, but at the end of the day I do have to rely on the advice I receive from those who know a lot more than me about these matters. That said, no one predicted the massive traffic surge on Saturday which made things so much worse.

Also, for the record, this is only the 2nd time we have experienced such hardware failures. The previous occurrence was about 3 years ago (which was the catalyst in us moving from a VPS to a dedicated server)

I'm still having issues from the Qantas grounding and even since the OS upgrade today. The site seems to be very variable in response times, refreshing, editing posts and posting can range from the usual acceptable speeds to almost a stand -still . I have checked my Wi-fi and it appears to be working OK for everything else except AFF. Can admin please advise if there are any known issues or further maintenance to be carried out ?
Thankyou

Hi Fiona,

This was discussed at a mods meeting this evening.

Initially it was slow after coming back on line as the system was being mirrored. After that process it should have come good. So in theory everything is OK and it's full steam ahead but being watched very carefully.

In practise I'm also seeing what you are seeing so I'll forward your post to admin to ensure he is fully aware.

I've found over the last week or so the option on the top left hand corner with a link to New Posts hasn't been there.

Is it because I'm so annoyed with QF management over the last few days or just a coincidence?

They are back now but see posts # 49-54 above.

Since yesterday I can't get to AFF in Chrome, get below screen :(

Looks like you're getting a cached version of the page... try shift+reload, or clear out your cookies/cache.

That worked to some extent as I can now access AFF through Chrome but still slow. Thanks Flashware!

No further maintenance planned - but we are monitoring and may need to fine-tune some settings.
