HI fellow AFF Members

As an introducing of sorts, I am a recently retired consulting engineer who has been a QFF member since 1988. The motivation for joining this ‘club’ of fellow Frequent Flyer is to maximize my accumulated points and better understand LTSC benefits.

Does anyone know when QANTAS introduced Status tier credits? I have exhausted all Google search avenues I could think of without any real success. Lots of tips on reaching various level and frusations expressed on the apparent difficulty reaching LTPlatinum.

Any hints or insights as to when tier credits were introduced would be gratefully received.

Kind regards and stay safe during this challenging time for us all.

@serfty could answer your questions

For the purposes of lifetime accumulation 01 September 1998 is the relevant date
For Members who joined Qantas Frequent Flyer prior to 01 September 1998, their coughulative Status Credit total will include all tier credits or Status Credits earned from 01 September 1998. For Members who joined Qantas Frequent Flyer after 01 September 1998, their coughulative Status Credit total will date from their date

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Welcome to AFF @rhd :)

Tier Credits earning began on 1st September 1998.

Life time status is based on all Status Credits and Tier Credit Earned since then.

Between October 1994 when I joined the Qantas Club and the introduction of Tier Credits, I had 245 flights with Qantas. None of those 245 flights count toward my ~35K lifetime SC tally.

Thank you @oz_mark for your prompt and detailed answer. Much appreciated. I guess this explains and confirms my suspicion that my first 10 years QFF membership did not contribute to my LTSC tally.

My apologies @serfty & @Steady, I just noticed you both answered my question as well. Thanks for your replies. Still figuring out navigation through the site.

For some reason @serfty ’s post wasn’t showing when I replied, makes my post look a bit silly

When this Coronavirus is solved, or over, and QF flies agin, make sure that if you ever have to fly with EK, that it carries the QF flight number.
There are some EK flights that do not carry the QF flight code, esp to some of the cities in Africa, if you have a feeling you want to go visit Kilimanjaro for eg.
Also, EK is not a OW partner, but as they carry a QF flight number on most of their flights from Aust, for all intents and purposes, so long as you make sure you book on the QF website, even if you fly the EK plane, so long as it carries the QF flight number, you will earn QF points and QF SC at the rate as if you would, if you were flying on a QF plane itself.
Do not book on the EK website, as this would entail you flying an EK flight number, EK metal, and earn much less QF points and no QF SC.
QF does have a very basic QF points and QF SC earn calculator, it was very good in the past, but now is sub par.
For people like me, (living in ADL), without any QF international flights from here, PER is one with only the flight from there to SIN/LHR, if for eg, I ever wanted to fly to Europe, and earn QF SC, I would have to go through PER or the east coast, or I could fly EK, (aka Emirates), but making sure to book on the QF website, and to also make sure it carries the QF flight number.
Some places in Asia, that QF does not fly to, it has code shares, TPE (Taipei) for eg, they have a codeshare with CI China Airlines, not to be confused with Air China, (which is the Beijing China based airline), CI China Airlines, is the Taiwan based airline.
You don't say where you are based.
if you book with JQ, ensure you book with a bundle fare, paying about $29 to $39 to $49 more, to earn QF points and QF SC.
If flying MH, you will not earn QF points and QF SC at the J rate, even if you fly in a MH J cabin.
QFi/QFd-Qantas
EK-Emirates
JQi/JQd-Jetstar
MH-Malaysia Airlines
Edit: You asked your Q in the business rewards part of the forum, this means usually its for those with an ABN, waffly/moot point, ... but we do also have the general non ABN holder part of the forum.
