I have just had a win....

Next Tuesday (28th) I am flying Y+ to AUH on VA and although this leg was not available for an upgrade my return flight from AUH to SYD on the 17th was available. So 45,000 point later I now have an upgrade to J. :p

Just returned from my upgraded flight thank you Virgin.... however I have just checked my status account and they claim the following....

Processed DateActivity DateDescriptionStatus CreditsVelocity Points
BaseBonusTotal
18 Sep 1217 Sep 12Abu Dhabi-Sydney (Not Valid For Earn) 0 Points and 0 Status Credits Pooled to Velocity Member 2..........0000

This has got to be a mistake. According to the T&C the following states:

12.10.4 Points and Status Credits will be earned at the rate applicable to the original purchased fare

Has anyone else had this issue with long haul international points?

As an update, despite the fact that this issue was of no interest to anyone else, the points for my AUH - SYD have just been posted. What does this mean? Don't know but I did put in a request for the points via the Velocity website and besides the automated response I have not received any other correspondence from Velocity. So the original activity on the statement that mentioned that the flight was not valid for 'Earn' could have been based on the class of the fare (Z) and maybe before I put through the email (complaint) to Velocity I should have been a bit more patient. Alternatively they acted on my email by posting the points but that seems a little odd as they have not sent any other correspondence confirming this. The important thing is I have now got the points so I am happy.:)

I am guessing no-one else had experienced this more than not being interested, so may have felt they had little to add.

Such failed crediting of upgrades is a common issues with many airlines. I am thinking it may not have updated without your additional input.

Was that an EY or VA plane?
how far out was the upgrade confirmed?

I tried to get the upgrade exactly 7 days out from the outgoing flight. (SYD-AUH) I couldn't get this upgrade however I could get the return which was about 3 weeks later. Ironically however when I got to the airport at check-in at SYD they upgraded me to J. I saved 45,000 points. I didn't ask for it, the check-in agent just gave it to me.

My wife and daughter are coming back at the end of this week and I tried to get them upgraded without any luck.
