Maybe but have my doubts about there being much change in the governments opinion. The location of the the train stations was decided by the previous Liberal Government with the full expectation that QF would be moving soon and that decision was supported and continued by the incoming government. As far as I am aware there has never been public wavering by any member of the current government. The last ''official'' comment I can see was - “We’re a little bit frustrated with the dawdling that’s going on at the moment with Qantas,” he said.". And that was by the now incoming Premier a couple of months ago.

From memory, it was also tied into the second runway, which was the catalyst for the underground rail line which has been a disaster and has held everything up. Haven't heard a squeak about the second runway for a number of years now but the plan was it would be operational by now and those in T1 and T4 would move to T1/T2.

Just to be pedantic, I think you mean third runway. PER already has two.

I agree that I haven't heard much about the third runaway for a year or two. However there was a statement by Perth Airport in March that pax numbers were back to pre-covid levels and they were reaching runway capacity levels at times. It also says that they are prepared to commence construction of the third runway once Federal Government decisions are made. Who knows if they are really ready to go.

“We have the necessary project approval from the Federal Government, and they have also issued the permit required under environment laws to clear the land.

“We continue to await a decision from the Federal Government on an environmental offsets strategy that will allow us to start construction.

Rather than starting another thread (although probably should if there’s not something else already similar to this question):

What‘s the PER T1 (Int) to T4 (Dom) transfer experience like at the moment?

We’ll be flying in from DPS on JQ and transferring to QF onto SYD (all one ticket) in July. I know we have to collect bags, clear customs etc but it sounds like we need to schlep ourselves and luggage from T1 to T4. The airport website is a bit vague ad suggest Taxi/Rideshare and a throwaway about a shuttle every 20 mins or so. Anyone more more specific info.
Closing the loop again for anyone else doing similar. We passed through last Sunday.

Morning JQ flight from DPS arrived on time, grabbed some DF grog and collected bags (which appeared quite quickly) then out in search of the shuttle.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but there is no signage for the T1 to T3/4 shuttle just a generic sign to "Buses".... Which I assumed was the way to go but asked a staff member just in case and she confirmed it was correct. One bus stop (on the left) to car parks and one stop (on the right) to T3/4. We lucked in with a relatively short wait before heading off on the very long trip around.

While I was waiting, I checked Uber and the fare was $22 (and that was 1pm on a Sunday).

As an aside, despite being on one QF ticket (classic reward) JQ DPS-PER/QF PER-SYD, JQ staff in DPS would not checked through nor issue BPs for the onward flight. Knowing that there wasn't a baggage transfer in T1 meant the check thru was academic but not having a BP (the QF app wouldnt issue one either) meant we had to front a human to recheck. Again, fortunately at that time of day, QF check-in was pretty quiet.

That's normal for Jetstar. They don't seem to do transfers to Australian domestic sectors.

They're supposed to but just chose not to. Some BS about QF checkin wasn't open....

The IT blocking checkin for the onward sector was a PITA and a reason I probably won't do that combo again.
