Interesting choice for an inflight movie

Well on my flight today from PER to SYD on an international config 737 (I think, the one with 1,2,2 J seating), the choice of movies included Snakes on a Plane. Can say I didn't watch it though, Pirates was much more tempting.

Well I'll be! I guess I can look forward to a marathon of the Airport series followed by 'Flying High' on my next SYD-LAX flight.

Good choice BTW, Pirates is a much better movie.

737 ? 1,2,2 seating? Choice of movie?

Let's face though, in the movie the plane landed in a re-usable state.

Update: I flew Tokyo - Mel last night and they did show WTC on AVOD. It was edited however, they did not show any footage of an aircraft crashing or hitting anything.

Likewise flying QF - LHR-SYD. Wasn't sure if the actual (unedited) movie included footage of the crash, or if the producers took a slightly different approach and decided to skip the obvious. Either way, I think it worked well (the rest of the movie was a bit of a yawn though).

Cheers,
- Febs.

I think Reggie meant 767 ;)

Something like that Kiwi Flyer, Truth is I have no idea what sort of plane I am on, when its not a crash8 or a 747. I actually specifically looked at the safety sheet to get the plane details for accuracy when putting it on this site, but then couldn't remember what is was, so in good formI took a guess and followed with ???? as I knew someone would correct me.

I noticed that WTC was showing on my international flights this week and must say I was surprised. And I didn't watch it.

As I posted elsewhere, Poseidon was showing on the main screens on PER-SYD a few months back and I thought it was inappropriate, especially with minors on board. Way too graphic - if my kids had been on board I'd have been upset.

737s only have one aisle and 3-3 seating in economy, 2-2 in business.

LAX-SYD in December:

- "Snakes on a Plane" available for AVOD. Unfortunately I was on Wunula Dreaming with no AVOD. As pointed out earlier, the plane lands safely.

- "Superman Returns" on rotation on one channel. 777 plummets to Earth with a wing missing and is only saved because of Supe. Must admit it was kind of unsettling watching a flaming aircraft heading for disaster while sitting comfortably in 16A on the upper deck.

But I have to say that I'm glad they don't censor movies just because of some perceived negative effect it may have on some pax. These days about the only chance I have to watch recent movies is on-board aircraft. It's a side-effect of having young children.

I think the best thing they could do it like a rating announcment at the begining of the movie mention the scenes may offend some viewers.

Doesn't worry me, i can watch things like docco's on plane crashes the night before flying or even on the plane, my girlfriend things thats disturbing, but as i say to her its not like i am not going to take the trip is it and i am probably much more likely to be killing in the taxi on the way to the airport.

Anybody like the Brit comedy "Mile High", only ran for 2 series but i thought it was great late night TV.

.

I guess you won't have the stomach to watch 'real life' Air Crash Investigations on Fox on Virgin blue then if CGI animation and Superman unsettles you!! :p

Actually the unsettling period only lasted a few seconds. I love the Air Crash Investigation/Seconds from Disaster/etc. programmes. Wouldn't hesitate to watch one on board, except it would be unlikely to be one I hadn't already seen!
