Hi all

I am just wondering if someone can tell me currently what type of room you need to book at the Intercontinental Sydney to gain Club Lounge access please?

Many thanks
Larni

and not just a room on a club floor. It must be an actual dedicated club room with club access

You cannot book a club floor room so the point is moot, however if you do get a club floor room don't assume it has club access unless you key shows the club, in Sydney that won't happen.

Hi Sorry I probably wasn't thinking when I wrote the question. I am a Patinum Ambassador so I was wondering what room I need to book to be upgraded to a Club room with Club Lounge access?
Thanks again!!

You need to book a club room.

I did think it was an obvious question, you need to book a room one category down, as the IC class views as a category, it would be a PREMIUM OPERA HOUSE VIEW ROOM.

You might want to PM the IC lurker on Flyer Talk in the IC Sydney master thread, been very helpful until the priority privilege issue raised its head, making this hotel a no go for me!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Please tell me more! I was looking at using a PP voucher so any info would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to check with them, as when I booked a standard room at the IC Melbourne I was upgraded, as PP Ambassador, to a club room but it didn't include club access as it was an upgrade.

WOW! That is bad! That changes things a bit for me then. I have had issues in the past with PP and Rialto in Melbourne as well. With the change of Intercontinental and Holiday Inn Burswood to Crwn the PP program is sadly losing its value.

IC Sydney wont honour Ambassador or RA upgrades on PP BOGOs.

I have had no issues with Rialto in Melbourne after a similar tactic by them just after they opened. Same for IC Adelaide, so guess where Xmas is being spent (and a bit of money). BTW you can still get the cash back using PP, just log in to PP and do a booking to the point where it shows the hotels options, copy the URL, then go to MrRebates, click the IC link, do a search thats similar, when the results come up like on PP, paste the URL that has the PP code in!

Same process works for the AMB bogo as well.

Question on a similar vain. I checked into HI Singapore Orchard rd recently - nice pub. Upon arrival the lady said ah you're a PC member - welcome & thank you!
we had booked a room with 2 x doubles non smoking, breakfast included . She gave us key and sent us on the way to one of 2 club room levels ( as also designated on the lift)
we were surprised to find though that we had none of the privelges - including free wifi - didnt really care about laundry but the club room would have been nice - especially as it was in direct view of our room.
I reckoned it was like getting an upgrade to J on a flight but no meals drinks etc. Am i out of line or is it worthy of annoyance ?

How does this work? My experiences from IC Sydney have been great so far. Had about 6 stays In the past 6 weeks and many more to come . Harbour suite club access just about every time. I did notice if you book the room they make the upgrade before the stay so you see what they have upgraded you to . If you don't like it you can always cancel it.

i would say I prefer a harbour suite here than the opera deluxe at the PH.

iC was my hotel of choice in Sydney. I was an RA then. However they were picky with some benefits.

Now I am a Hilton man and expect more in return for my loyalty, in general.

Coys that tinker with good schemes can damage loyalty disproprtionately.

Do you copy the whole link? Or modify the ratePreference? Or does it even matter? Does MrRebates see it as long as it's the same session?

If you've done it correctly, will an IC booking show up in MrRebates under "Pending Rebates" or do you have to complete the hotel stay first?

Only shows up after the stay, but often credits as if it was two fully paid nights.
