So I booked a weekend away yesterday (well I booked a couple) but one of them is for the weekend of the 8-9th of October.
Now, Qantas I love you, I do, but why didn't your booking system give me a little pop up saying
Hey Taez. It is great that you are heading off for a weekend of relaxing by the beach and walking in the rain forrest. I think I should just let you know that you are going to be in Canberra that weekend. Remember? Much love, Qantas XOXO
I would even have appreciated the above messages without the XO's. #justsaying
Off to get a credit.

I find if you call Qantas up ASAP after making these sort of blunders, they are fairly good about reversing things for no charge.

Yes call and ask to void the ticket, depending on the consultant they will void and not create a voucher (I hate those credit vouchers with a passion)

Thanks for the tips guys.
As I paid by BPay it couldn't be voided, but they are waiving all fees including rebooking since I called within 24 hours. 34 odd flights booked in the next 3 months also prolly helped a little.
Taez
XOXO
PS. I still think it should pop up with that message.

Agreed it should have a pop up. It would make me feel valued as a platinum cause with all my one way bookings I'd get it all the time. 25% more pop ups for WP.

Would it be too cheeky to say that I have had an intelligent booking system all my life?

And well before iPhones, tripit or any online planner. Still works perfectly well and from memory has never made a double booking. ;) One of these days it is due to fail. :p

HEHE JohnK.
I had AFF in my diary but just for Friday to remind me not to book in meetings (I am going down in the morning to do some touristy things), so when I checked iCal it was clear. I have since made sure that the AFF weekend is now from 6am Friday to 10pm Sunday.

Maybe enter proposed itineraries into iCal prior to booking and see if there is a conflict?

Or hire a Butler. Both options work.
