I wasn't saying that, I was asking if the list of people includes selfish snobs. Hence the ?.

Selfish snobs generally don't make any noise disturbing other passengers. DYKWIA's are a whole different story. ;)

Annoy the crew maybe but other passengers ?

Ignoring the bit where I was making a sarcastic comment about the poster being a self proclaimed Selfish Snob and wondering whether they would also annoy them.

Hell yeah!!! Selfish people on aircraft annoy the hell out of me. They have absolutely no consideration for the fact that we are all sharing the space. They push past as I get up to use the toilet, usually into J from Y. They hog the toilet. They push into the aisle from the window seat when disembarking. Show zero respect for your luggage in the overhead. Hog the armrests, dig you in the ribs while turning the page of their book. Basically any self-centered behaviour that goes along with being selfish.

This is why I believe I should be presented with a taser to enforce good manners and common sense.

That makes them rude. Not snobs. Bit some of these things just happen in a confined space not because of personality. Not sure why the window seat into the aisle thing is an issue. I think you seem to experience a lot of plane rage that others don't.

1) I didn't label them snobs - Someone else applied that label, I'm just copying their label. You seem to be missing the trail of the conversation that you've stepped into.
2) The label that the other person used was selfish snob. Selfish behaviour can also be rude when it affects others.
3) You don't understand the problem with the window seat person pushing out? Have you ever been on an aircraft? Have you noticed that there is just enough room in the aisle for the 2 people in the aisle seats to stand up. So you get a couple of window seat people deciding to not wait their turn and push into the aisle there is then 3 or 4 people jammed in the aisle of the aircraft waiting for the door to open.
4) Not sure what you little comment about plane rage is alluding to, but perhaps if you had of tried to follow the conversation you might not feel the need to make such a comment. Certainly love to see know how much plane rage you experience out of every 100 flights.

Here ya go:

:) I'm not retired or a business person either, just a selfish snob.

Part of the appeal of business/first is the ability to sleep which is almosst imposible in zoo class. That's what I am primarily paying for. If that ability to sleep is compromised by anyone (children, babies (or the parents of children/babies), w@nkers, loud drunks, etc) then I am not a happy chappy.

Selfish Snobs?

Hopefully, that is clear enough now for you to understand that I was asking if anyone included selfish snobs including self proclaimed selfish snobs. That I was not calling anyone a selfish snob.

That's not being snobby. Precious maybe.

Once more with feeling: I was not calling anyone a snob.

I think it is time for everyone to have a gin and tonic and cool down. My children were never a problem, and I remember travelling with them in the days when there was 1st class domestic. But the reality is that most of us will defend our children, but unfortunately we do become a bit intolerant as we mature. I have no problem with children in J Class, but sometimes I find the behaviour of their parents a bit difficult to comprehend. But in the end if they pay for the seat it is the responsibility of the FA to respond to their behaviour.

You've got way too much time on your hands medhead . Relax :) fwiw I am alluding to the fact that I am selfish in relation to not wanting babies in premium cabins. It doesn't mean im going to disrespect your cabin baggage or whatever else you have come up with there.

I know some people that get around this whole issue by travelling in F and leaving the kids in Y with the nanny. I wouldn't call it parenting though :). I agree with the sentiments of a lot of people on here. I am often more offended by adults than kids.

I've always thought an airline could differentiate themselves in addressing this issue - a separate, smaller cabin with curtain for parents with babies/toddlers. This would benefit everyone.

Once, on a recent flight, a parent who had not organised themselves with the bassinet seat (if you're travelling with a baby, be prepared!) said to me that she would be happy to make the baby scream for 12 hours unless they gave her a better seat. I wish I was making it up, but that's what happened.

What I question, though, is the necessity of travelling internationally at all with a very young child. Unless it's a funeral or something you're travelling for, why put yourself, the child and other passengers through all that?

As for infants in premium cabins, I don't see why it should be any different, regardless of the cabin you're travelling in. For many, the fare of a Y- seat is just as much a hit to the wallet as those who travel in F.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It depends on how you got your ticket. If a QF award or QF ticket then no cost. If however you have booked an award using a different program - such as American Airlines then an infant gets charged 10% of the full fare for the cabin.

?

There are no QF infant awards (they can travel for free on domestic flights) - for international travel you have to stump up 10% + YQ + taxes (even if the adult is on an award)

Well in my case it is for our 1 year old infant to meet his only grandparents for the first time.

In the true spirit of AFF, is it acceptable to take your 2yr old on a JASA status run? :)

To answer your question - our daughter has flown internationally to meet family who aren't able to travel themselves, to go on holidays with her cousin who lives in the UK and so I could bring my family with me on a work trip. We've taken a few domestic flights in J purely because she wanted to fly somewhere and hadn't been on an aircraft for a while - her choice entirely.

Clearly the answer is NO....take some poor deserving AFF'r along instead who needs status and who can provide intelligent, scintillating polite conversation !

Sorry, should have been clearer... the status run was for HER status, not mine...! :)

<snip>

Hmm, rows 11-13 in the A380 J cabin seem to fit the bill here, ;) .

medhead, when you say silly things like asking if I've even been on a plane it rather kills your argument. I mentioned rage because some of the things that get you antsy really just happen and aren't the selfish incidents you seem to think they are, and you are interpreting someone else's behaviour based on your own values anyway.
