Flight from Indonesia to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control after 'requesting unusual flight path'.

Air Asia Flight Lost Contact with Air Traffic Control

Just watching ABC24 & they are reporting that an Ais Asia plane flying Indonesia to Singapore has lost radio contact.

An AirAsia flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday, Indonesian media said, citing a Transport Ministry official.
Transport Ministry official Hadi Mustofa said the aircraft, flight number QZ 8501, lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6:17 am local time.
He said the plane had asked for an unusual route before it lost contact.

Not good news. Possibly the third Malaysian airliner lost in recent times!

Does anyone know what time I was meant to land (and which time zone that is in)?

Saw this on ABC News... & then went to AK page on Facebook where it was sadly confirmed. Best wishes for everyone on board. Have always felt safe flying Air Asia.

Surpose to land at 8:30am Singapore time in Singapore, three and half hours ago and counting.

Air Asia, like Jetstar, has a number of subsidiaries.

QZ is the designator for Indonesia AirAsia.

Air Asia however unlike most JQ operations is a minority shareholder, was started as AWair.
