Indigineous Tasting Plate in Qantas F....

What flight? I had St Henri 2015 3-4 times in the last couple of months.

The chicken skewers were delicious!

QF11, this week. Agree on the skewers, would line up again for them.

Depends on their meaning of indigenous. If it’s purely indigenous Australian cuisine then you only have to look at Orana in Adelaide. Would be hard presssed to find a better restaurant in Australia, their food is amazing.

Ate there late last year, FWIW we didn’t like it - horrible meal!

Posted about it here on AFF.

I agree with you.

I've been to Rockpool quite a few times and left underwhelmed every single time. Tetsuya's - only went once and haven't bothered going back.

I love Quay, Attica, and Est though.

List is a bit out of date though.

Rockpool (original) was good 20 + years ago...

Like flying too :)

Totally off-topic, but I am watching CNN International in my hotel... haven't seen it for ages! God I LOVE all the generic international ads from "Banking in Nigeria" to "Beautiful <insert name of 3rd world country>"

CNN could never be accused of liking Trump, that's for sure!

:) Just had the best day (daylight) in Boston - free drinks at lunch, followed by a free (but generous tip) umbrella at a Newbury St bar. About to head back out to enjoy the evening.

Jealous. I'm in Sydney.... not the worst place in the world... I'd rather in Boston!
See if you can find a Native American tasting plate somewhere

Fixed this for you :)
Melbourne doesn't have the views though... so the Sydney restaurants always get a few points there.
Has anyone been to Minamishima in Melbourne? Any good?

I have and it's fantastic and worth going.

Though if you are frequent flyer to Japan and dabble in high end sushi there then that's the only time I would say give Minamishima (or any expensive Japanese retaurant here in Aus) a second thought only because it can be had for much cheaper.

During our visit to Canada for the family reunion for my wife'svery distant German origins we had a "First Nations" meal on Victoria Island in the middle of the Ottawa River in Ottawa run a by a group called "Aboriginal Experiences". The main course was Bison Burger plus there were lots of Native Rices & Beans .

I never imagined Pocahontas eating burgers but I guess if Mulan ate Chicken McNuggets with Sichuan sauce then anything is possible.... (obviously a joke - I know that Pocahontas isn't Canadian)

It was part of a package deal with a guided tour of various styles of dwellings, hunting techniques, canoe building and so forth followed by a display of dances and costumes etc. I guess Bison burger was the cheapest way they could have at least some slight authenticity.

How did a thread based on a really terrible spelling error turn into a fairly blatant attack on ‘native foods’? Gee, if you don’t want to eat something, don’t. Good on Qantas for at least trying something with native bush ingredients.

The enjoyment of food is totally subjective. We ate bison burgers and elk cutlets in Yellowstone. Neither that great. ‘Indigenous flavoured‘ food at Uluru earlier this year with local bush spices that was very nice.

Maybe I’ve woken up just feeling a bit sensitive, but this thread has a tone of Australian Superior Flyer, not Frequent Flyer

This was back in 2017. This was the screen shot I sent Qantas via messenger
So it actually has been an issue for a while received_10211095619763713.png
