GGGRRR!!!!

I am in Ireland (for those of you who haven't read earlier posts). I have 73781 points after the points from my recent flights to here were credited.

Etihad's Mileage Calculator https://www.etihadairways.com/sites...ognition/visitor/Pages/mileagecalculator.aspx says I need 72621 points to upgrade my cheapo economy seat from Abu Dhabi to Sydney to Business.

But when I try to upgrade online, the website won't let me - it will allow me to upgrade the Dublin-Abi Dhabi leg, for something like 37000 points (can't remember exactly, but I do know it also is slightly more than the 35643 quoted by the Mileage Calculator).

So it seems the Mileage Calculator is telling fibs, slightly underestimating the number of points neede to upgrade.

What is going on Etihad?

Pete

There does not seem to be a great deal of EY experience here on AFF.

Have you tried FT?

EY has an open seat policy in redeeming a reward seat. The number required to redeem your flight is weight parallel with the paying seats, i.e if the paying seat fare goes up, and so is the miles.

As any other airlines, they are selling the cheapest first and then after certain number of sales, they closed that their cheapest fare and up the rest.

Having said that, mileage you will received also depend on the fare you paid, the cheapest will get lower mileage :)

Hope my answer is make sense :P

Edited to add: what they published the redeem point requirement is the base (lowest) mileage to be able to redeem, does NOT guarantee the amount the want for the flight you want.
