I'm stepping down from the AFF editor role

No idea. I just saw Matt's name on the Points Hacks staff page and made the assumption he was going there???

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes, they mean a lot.

Perhaps YouTuber time? 😉

I'd say that's unlikely! 😝

All the best, Matt. We have learnt a lot from you. Not good if you were pushed out.

This smacks of Point Hacks/AFF cost-cutting. I've often wondered how fiscally viable blog-type websites are.

To be clear, it was 100% my decision to move on. It has nothing to do with cost-cutting and no, I wasn't pushed out.

This has been a great job for me for 11 years, but that's a long time in the same role, and I'm ready for a new challenge. I'm looking forward to starting a new career in a different job after a proper break.

And you'll probably still see some new articles of mine on AFF in the foreseeable future, as I'll be one of several freelance writers that will contribute articles to the website next year.

There's nothing to see here. No, I'm not moving to Point Hacks. I've been listed as Australian Frequent Flyer editor on that page some time, as Point Hacks has owned AFF since 2022.

Good luck in your future endeavors Matt wherever and whatever they may be. Thanks for the wisdom and knowledge.

All the best for your next endeavour Matt, it has been a great pleasure reading your articles and listening to the travel pointer podcasts in the past years. You will be greatly missed but I am glad to hear that you will still be contributing as a freelance writer, and I look forward to reading more of your articles.

Sad to see you go but understand it’s time for a change. Hope whatever you do goes well. You are one of the smartest miles and points people around. Hope you can convert all that brainpower and strategic thinking into something great financially for yourself, you have it in you. Go well.

All the best Matt! It was a pleasure to have finally met you at the Sydney gathering.

I've always enjoyed your articles and am pleased that you will be freelancing for AFF.

Congratulations Matt... I remember meeting a young MattG at SYD when you were wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, fresh-faced out of CBR. I've enjoyed following vicariously along the journey of life you've taken these many years and all the best for your future endeavours.

As some of you are already aware, I'm stepping down from my role as AFF's editor at the end of this year.

I've been in this role since 2015, and it's been quite a journey. I'm very proud of what AFF has achieved over that time, and I'm happy to have had the chance to meet and perhaps even help many of you. But the time has now come for me to move on to a new challenge.

I will still contribute to AFF for the foreseeable future, both as a freelance writer next year and as a member of this wonderful community. I just won't be the person behind the AFF Editor account going forward, which will become a general editorial account next year. Going forward, you can still reach me on my personal AFF account @Mattg.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me over the past 11 years, and thank you for helping to make AFF such a passionate, welcoming, knowledgeable and generous community. It wouldn't be the same without you, and I hope to see many of you again at future AFF events!

All the best and safe travels,
Matt Graham
I’m selfishly sorry to see you moving on, @Mattg. You are easily the best source of insight, knowledge and content in Australia on FF and travel. You are frank, clear, scrupulously fair and sensitive to the issues faced by everyday FFs. I hope your expertise and talents will continue to be directed into informing and benefitting FFs in whatever you do next but, regardless, go well and thanks for the last 11 years.

All the best Matt!

You may recall that I was there (or should I say you were here...;)) very soon after you went on the AFF payroll.

You have done an exemplary job.

May your future pork knuckles be as awesome as that long-ago Berlin example!
