I'm in the QF Lounge thread

Haha I wish! Engineering issues with a top right door which seems to be causing a big issue. Curiously they boarded all Y pax and held J and F. Not sure where said Y pax are now

Indeed the A380!

I was holding off on champagne for F but have given in and going for it now…might be snooze time if we ever make it out. My money is on aircraft change to VH OQD

Not always, in 2019 I was on QF35 in F and we had to wait onboard for around 90-120 minutes for something to get fixed. From memory the IFE was working however the crew where not handing out to many drinks as they were not sure if we were going to take off or have to deplane. I get restless easily and would have preferred to go back to the lounge, however saying that it was better to be in F.

That's poor management, Matt. Drinks stop just before the takeoff roll and commence just thereafter. CX was the best at managing this sequence.

@Sprucegoose drinks were being served but not that often. Maybe they knew the quantity they had onboard and thought there have been a risk that all the PAX would squaff the Comtes prior to take off and then we would whinge when it ran out in flight. That leads me to another question, I think I have read somewhere that airlines have to pay duty on ponk served prior to take off. Sometimes in EK F they dish out the J Champagne and Dom or more recently A2 after takeoff. How do the authorities know if it was opened pre or post take off or is it just an honesty system. Yes it is a first world problem.

in May 2019 we were on QF93 MEL-LAX and after boarding were told there would be a delay as the walk around identified a possible birdstrike on the A380 wing which needed investigation. As it incrementally progressed from a more detailed inspection all the way to requiring an engineer to fly down from Sydney to certify a repair, it became a 3 hour delay with everyone on board. Not in F like others here, but we got a water bottle about 45 minutes in, and I was surprised & impressed just how relaxed everyone was knowing many missed connection in LAX.

I remember that delay in SIN for QF36 (Matt you were on that one right?) and we had an hour or so on board before they deplaned us. Crew kept refilling my bubbles and when they told us to get off I may have wobbled a bit back to the lounge. That's the one that turned into the six hour delay. Ah Nancy..... :D

Absolutely you are 100% on the return QF36, the plane was busted. I had forgotten the order, a couple of P1 members got offloaded early from F and sent back to NZ in some mysterious circumstances. I will be back in MEL 16 Feb or earlier but would you like to join us am 17 Feb (I think this is the correct date)
