I'm feeling a bit sad ...[My SC's are getting wiped today... =( ]

There is usually a few days lag at end of month. Give it time
Anecdotes indicate you retain your status for up to a week - in this case the indicator is the 31 August 2010 review date.

This is possibly to wait to see if any further SC's may post from the immediate past month/year that could vary your "new" status.

OT: If someone had the chance to have staff travel on QF and most other airlines around the world, would you use this more than the commercial fares which get SC's/points/status?

Staff travel is a bit like flying tiger, there is a good chance you wont get to where you are going for a few days, albeit for a different reason, staff travel is normally on a standby basis.

I once has to spend the day at LAX waiting for a space that did not come through, it was a long day, and as I was riding jump seat it was sterile coughpit conditions, so no sitting in a bar drinking the hours away.

But based on the cheapness of the fares is it worth it in a way? Especially if you plan it well.

they're all gone..... all of them...... gone...... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

... Today I am sitting on 0 Status Credits.... Yesterday I was nearly 3000 :( ...
You get used to it. :-|

Over the last 2 years I've had over 6,800 SC's 'expire' (and 11,700 over 4 years) - come the end of October I'll only see a little over 2300 'expire' so..

This is due to putting some of my travel this year towards earning AirNZ Gold Elite Status. Next year I doubt I'll earn the 2100 for Partner Gold, but that's not going to be a direct issue, as SWMBO is set to earn SG status in her own right.

I guess the next question is what do you do to be able to fully fund leisure trips... to that extent

I work for Mercedes-Benz in Melbourne.

I am fortunate that I get an extra 4 weeks annual leave each year. (Good Negotiation!)

Travelling is something I have always enjoyed and I ensure I am always able to do it.

WOW a dream job, congratulations.

NM may have undergone such a year or two ago. Other than that, please report back. :D
My status dropped from Plat to Gold a few days after my anniversary date and a letter arrived in the mail thanking me for my loyalty and that based on my previous year's travels my status for the next year would be Gold.

But note that the first year after I stopped crediting to QFF, I received a further year as Platinum, so it was 2 years of zero SCs before dropping back to Gold for me. And of course by then I was OneWorld Emerald via AA program.

A great analogy Markis10.

I have some friends who use staff travel BUT if they really, definitely have to be there at a particular time then they pay commercial fares.

My 920 points expired last night too *sniff* I am just hoping I can work out my travel this year to maybe, hopefully get WP :) At least I have four international trips booked in the next 3 months already, so that will get me off to a good start for the year :) I suspect I will have to try for a SC run at some stage to get me to WP though :)

Whats with all the August anniversaries, did you all decide to become QFF at a Xmas party :D:D:D

Serfty raises an interesting question with this post: at what point do you start sampling the other side (eg *A)? WP achieved for the year? LTG?

I ask as I have about 3,000 SCs to go before LTG, but I find myself drawn to SQ for various flights which would normally help me tally up QFF SCs?

When you have way too much time and money at your disposal. :p

Some (most) of us struggle to get top status in one alliance let alone think about achieving status in another alliance. Assuming one achieves LTG wouldn't it still be worthwhile to strive for Platinum as there is a big difference between Gold and Platinum in terms of possible benefits?

I'd had LTG for not very long and was "comped" AirNZ GE last year after Qantas dumped QF NZ. This was due to my many flights on QF NZ over the previous years.

Since then I have earned it - looking to retain it for next yearas well. (The *G cross carrier luggage benefits are very useful when travelling with SWMBO.)

Fair call:D

My comment was more for some posters who seem to have many more SCs than needed to retain WP, or even less yet still retain WP.

Absolutely. I have the time but not the cash flow to sustain a second alliance.

In my case, I had the flights to distribute.

Of course, Air NZ Airpoints upgrade facility which for Gold Elite can be confirmed up to 51 weeks in advance helps. ;)
