Find the cheapest room you can in the coughpiest of places and find a backpacker somewhere to include in the booking to get a free night ?? might be a Win/win ???? or not.

My days of picking up backpackers in a new city are long behind me ;)

Tut Tut I did not say "pick up" I said "find"......hope that is not a guilty conscience ?????
Surely there must be some website or blog where you can give someone a free night ?? as long as their name is also included on the booking I am sure they will be given access to the room ???? won't they ??? pay in adance, even pay for breakfast and hey presto challenge met.............................OR NOT ????????????? I don't know just thinking laterally

I got the "new member" Stay twice and get a free night promo..?

WTF???

I filed the original email without reading. (Haven't used IHG for over a year.)

Today received an email "Don’t miss out! Stay once in September and earn 10,000 IHG(R) Rewards Club bonus points", so I had a look and it's my accelerate offer which is the same as whatmeworry's.

[one night in September earn 10K (5K+5K), 3 nights for 16K .... up to 18 nights for 58K total.]

I really only see IHG for transfer to AAdvantage, so stay 18 nights and earn 11000 Advantage miles. No thanks ...

New IHG member here.

2 stays = 1 free night.
2 more stays = another free night.

Should be able to achieve one of those thanks to work...

I also received that promotion as well even though I have been a member for a few years but had very little activity in my a/c.

Just wondering; the free rooms? Did it mention which category? Might move some SPG stays if the room redemption is worth it.

I'm pretty sure it's a "free night certificate", meaning it can be used at any IHG hotel for a standard room booking. Intercontinental Park Lane, perhaps?

Cheers, thanks. I am going through 25 pages over at FT right now and you are right.

I have been so 'focused' on SPG that I haven't been looking at anything else and just the last two days been playing around with IHG and there have been some good promos, like this one.

I used my Dining Rewards free night at London Park Lane, and my partner used hers at Paris Le Grand.

Both properties are on the 'upper' list, I would think ...

However, looking closer at 'my offer' ( Accelerate Promotion ), one of mine says to 'book 4 stays, and receive 10,400 points' ...

What do others think of the potential to BOOK the four stays well in advance, and then one-by-one cancel them ...

If all those four bookings were well after the '60 days post promotion' period, do you think IHG would reclaim the Promotion points back ???

My experience is book means "book and stay", but it could make for an interesting call centre argument

In my experience the bookings have to be during promotion period which in this case is 31 December 2015. And in previous promotions didn't receive the points until stay was completed.

The T&Cs are spread out over a few pages ( for this promo ), so a bit harder than previous to read all the Rules ...

I can't find anything to reflect, that the Stays must be completed, in order to qualify for the points offering ?

Did anybody else get an offer of a "booking" related requirement - not just 'stay' etc. ??

In what way?

I had to book 3 stays using app, 3 stays in hotels outside of country of residence as well as a 4 night stay.

As far as I can tell all need to be within promotion period. Not sure where you get the idea that you can book way ahead, get points and then cancel the bookings. Each of my hurdles in the past have only been acknowledged once the stay(s) was/were complete.

Read my lips ( lol ) ....

My offer specifically implies I must 'book' a stay.

As I said, I don't see anything in 'my' offer's T&Cs, to reflect that I 'must' complete the booking ( and actually 'stay' ).

It says "Make a booking for four stays" ....

What do the terms actually state?I have a book with the app offer, but the terms state that the stay must be 'consumed'.

Good luck with that one.

My promotion in January said book a stay at a Holiday Inn Resort. No reference to nights. So I booked a 1 night stay. The terms and conditions were later changed by IHG. Never received credit and missed out on points. No number of emails changed the result.

My apology to all ....

I re-read it AGAIN, and found THAT word ....

CONSUMED. Yes, the offer uses the word in such a manner, that it does imply that the booked stays must be 'consumed' within the promotional period.

I read my offer details three times, and I just didn't see this word 'consumed' before. It's there now though ...
