Foiled by a remote stand. First on the bus, which means middle of the pack for boarding. Plane is literally parked 5mtrs from gate C21 but they bused us.

Full plane and we were delayed as lots of pax stuck at check in but considering all the cancellations, we were not going without them so sat in 1F and enjoyed the last of our glacier water.

Its true what they say about the water, it is the best water you will ever drink. Straight from the tap, best. Water. Ever.

And that's a wrap from Iceland!

So many sites and things not done, don't know how people visit for only a day but reason to return one day.

I visited Iceland twice for work and managed to see quite a bit, but I think you got around quite a bit more (or saw fewer geothermal power stations  ). Anyway, hope you don't mind me posting my favourite pic, of Geysir:

I've seen lots of TR and photos of people going to Iceland but yours were something different again. Many thanks for doing this and enjoy Amsterdam.

After a few hours rest and a hot shower we headed back into the airport... And walked and walked and walked until the very end of it to check in with Iceland air. At this point my fitbit decided that I had died and someone else was wearing it. It was a bloody long way.

Security was chaotic and eventually we found our way to lounge no# 26.... This is when I began to suspect that Iceland's national airline might be low cost.

Walking up to it I see Star Alliance but that was not our lounge, ours was next to it, the Aspire lounge. Heineken on tap and all the cheese you can eat, a long as tasty slice cheese is your thing. It was freaking depressing. If heaven has a waiting room for old people, this would be it. Even the staff were blah as I had to ask for clean glasses to get a water

All of the lounges in AMS are pretty miserable and lacking showers too. Given the amount of connecting traffic coming through you'd think it'd be better equipped but nope. I have a fair bit of reading to do, only on the first page but thanks for posting the TR!

But before I figured out how to get to funds for bail, they return with the news that the manly man is not wearing a poncho but a blanket (thank God) although they did offer to put a hole in the blanket to make it a poncho for him.

Why am I telling you this? The few minutes chatting with the Irish backpacker staff was a lot of fun and they were lovely (and kind to the old crazy Aussie guy that wanted a poncho) and when we were almost to our door, we found 5000kr/$50aud in the street!

Firstly looking around for anyone to return it to then looking around for A Current Affair and then worried about karma doing bad things to us, we decided to go back and give it to the girls and say enjoy coffees on us and being young Irish backpackers living in a place where a glass of beer can cost up to $15, they said they'll have a couple of beers instead!
Poncho update! He's still looking. Told him maybe wait for us to go to Peru or Ecuador.

I have a trip planned for September, The accommodation looks great
What sort of prices did you pay for eating out?
following with intrest
Alcohol is super expensive. We paid as little as 20euro pp for breakfast but there were some restaurants with 100 euro just for a main. I would say Sydney prices but sometimes good alternatives if you look around.

Drink the water. It's true what they say, best water you will ever have and will miss once you leave.

Excellent Report and thanks for the read! Brings back so many memories of my Iceland Trip 2 years ago and was interesting to see some of the places I had visited at the opposite time of year and how they are now.

Today we're having a rest day around Reykjavik so plan on heading to Harpa near the wharf area via the Christmas store for my usual travel ornament... and doing laundry

Christmas decoration I bought yesterday, it's a lopapeysa sweater that everyone seems to wear

Just like Mrs FB, if she sees a Christmas store in a city we visit or anything resembling ornaments to go on the tree ......... all bets are off!

Finally got around to finishing reading, some great photos and looks like you had a super trip. Thanks for posting.
