Nudge... Wondering if anyone has any more recent experience?
I'm getting a sense that this is heading for an IT non-interoperable black hole... like the first, useless, costly, Aus Government procured, COVID-19 App?
A bit harsh;). You could be right though it may just be a matter of timing rather than fundamental technical obstacles. The earlier than forecast restart of international travel has meant doing it without the IATA TP and other new IT tools (e.g. DPD) that carriers and government agencies thought they had several more months to get ready.

Compatibility of the ICVC will surely (?) be resolved – though not necessarily by end of Nov as per IATA’s reassurance – since both the ICVC and TP are based on technologies purpose-designed as international standards.

No insight into why the AU ppt is causing such problems with the TP nor whether the problem is fixable other than by manual entry. Most baffling is that QF and others trialled the TP for some months and did not flag this major issue.

QF is still vague about timing for TP introduction on QF services so I'm not counting on using it for my UK trip in Dec: see here.

The TP is an interesting tool that one wants to work but I see it as ‘nice to have’ rather than vital. An appealing benefit for both pax & airlines is the prospect of pre-flight clearance before leaving home i.e. vax status and any test requirement associated with destination are verified in advance, reducing risk of denial of boarding at the airport.

But even if/when the glitches are sorted out we are still going to need credentials to be inspected at check-in and other points at the departure airport, in transit and at arrival port. For visual inspection/verification by airport staff I expect hard copy docs will still be the easier option. I had the most annoying experience last week which, while not aviation-related, was I think indicative: I was picking up pre-ordered goods from a well-known electronics retailer and the staff member took my phone from me to enlarge the order number on screen so he could read it more easily – hardly the promised ‘contactless’ experience!

So this is interesting…I’m still waiting to hear from passport office (3weeks ish now)

Think Australia has asked IATA to switch off chip scanning for just Aus passports. As my Irish one still prompts for chip scan. Or perhaps Aus ones don’t follow same standard chip?
So collected my AusPP….took over an hour in line to collect. No response. Apparently over run with renew applications so they never had time to send it to Canberra…the definition of incompetence.

Shocked (though not surprised) at the chaos in Melbourne Passport Office. The security guard (employed by MSS and not gov) was most helpful in contrast to staff.

Their go to solution was pay for a new one….despite my passport having 3years remaining.

I believe this is still coming and Qantas does plan to eventually use the IATA Travel Pass, but it does seem to be taking a while.

You can add your Aus International Certificate now to IATA app (Australia as an option now appears). I don’t think it’s configured correctly for 3 doses though as it accept my 2 dose certificate and eventually (after trying a few times) my 3 dose but doesn’t show the date of 3rd dose; instead showing the 2nd.

Also Qantas now an option for flights. Presuming QF will make announcement around the app soon.

Yes loaded my certificate and test results yesterday for my upcoming Qantas flight although I’m not yet triple vaxxed

Just installed the app. Setup is smooth, took a few minutes to get my selfie, foreign passport and ICVC scanned in. Cannot retrieve my upcoming flights using my Qantas PNR though (Qantas connecting to a partner airline).

I was able to add my vaccine certificate this morning! Was very excited 😆

Great.
Stupid that you gave to scan the barcode, rather than being able to upload the certificate.

Had to open it on my tablet to scan with my phone.

Wondering if the updated IATA Travel Pass that AFFs have been loading up with Australian vaccination certificates will be accepted in Portugal?
Discouraging words posted by DFAT on Smartraveller today about Portugal not recognizing Australian Vaccination certificates, Portugal

Hoping excitement doesn't turn to frustration with these IT systems' seeming absence of interoperability?

Just to make things more confusing you can now export an Aus ICVC to Apple Wallet (blue in colour) using latest Medicare app. Appears to generate same QR code.

Does Qantas mandate use of the IATA passes for international travel?

I have a brand new British passport and get to the chip scanning stage and then a message to say it can’t verify my identity.

There’s no troubleshooting guide or help other than a 1800 phone number on the Qantas website that doesn’t work. 🙄

I found the troubles I had inistially setting the app up went away by uninstalling and starting again from scratch, seem a little finicky.

I must be doing something wrong. My IATA app only lists nine airlines.

What’s the Covid rate there and what are the restrictions if any?
Lower than Australia. Masks are compulsory everywhere including outdoors. Must wear P2/N95 for public transport, indoor museums etc.
Super Green pass (fully vaccinated) required for all 12yrs and over to access any public places, hotels, dining, transport etc.
They have it pretty well sorted.

So your Australian COVID certificate is accepted or do you need to get an EU specific one?
