What is the true definition of "loyal" airline customer?

I saw this video a few years ago where Shashank Nigam from Simpliflying interviews Randy Petersen back in 2009 the day after the Freddie Awards.

If you don't have the patience to 9:39 mins worth of video scroll ahead and jump in at 4:40 mins where Randy talks about his definition of a loyal airline customer and why he pays full price for Apple and Nike products.

As with everyone else, I'm unsure why you have such an issue with how others used their points and cash. I don't think anyone else here cares too much how you earn your status, at least not enough to constantly point it out.

I have an issue with how an airline devalues my hard earned status. Part of it is due to all these gimmicks they try. You don't have to agree. If someone mentions that any seat awards were great for Qantas then I am also allowed to voice my opinion against. I don't say anything about KUPPs/YUPPs but I agree with some of the changes introduced with simpler and fairer.

I also have an issue with the airline flooding the market with points making my hard earned points next to useless.

A lot of people on AFF are playing a game. I see my status and points balance as an investment and see that investment slowly dwindling away. That's why I care. Nothing personal and I am not attacking anyone.

Apologies if that upsets you but there are many ways to look at something and AFF isn't always right.

Those passengers, generally speaking, would have either:

- redeemed Classics (if points-rich)
- purchased discount Y fares (if cash poor)
- flown other carriers (either on BFOD or better value premium product on OS carriers).

Or the fourth option:

- not flown at all.

"status and points balance as an investment" Ansett - John - Ansett....
Silver status becomes Ruby etc

Yes I'm hoping I can use my points in various programs in 2017 (Something about another 50th reunion) but investment, unlikely...

Not wandering

Lifetime Gold is an investment. Lounge access and priority check-in for life assuming Qantas doesn't do an Ansett as you mention.

Points accumulated for round the world trips. Still working unfortunately. No point burning them on a First class In'N'Out weekend run. Is there?

Maybe not for you, maybe not for me, maybe for someone else.

Everyone's different and have different motivations. I've flown some flights just for the experience, and yes I've flown F to the UK for a weekend to see a concert. That's just me. It may not be you and that's fine.

Everyone has different uses for their points/status/accounts and different goals... all goals are valid for those pursuing them imho.

No - I'd use cash for that ðŸ 01441122953.jpg
