Unlike many here most of my travel is self funded. So dropping back below Gold is inevitable if I can't get to Lifetime Gold first.

One of the key benefits of Platinum for those that are not LTG and for whom maintaining WP or above indefinitely is not realistic is that Platinum helps to fast track you towards LTG.

For those that rely on DSC promos to get/retain WP, if the DSC offers stop coming will find it hard to retain WP.

Unless I fly long haul international J using cash on QF I'd find it hard to retain even SG on standard credits.

True, but one would think AFFers would make more economic use of DSC than most and are more likely to use tricks to get extra value out of it.

As someone who would never have yet been WP without these promotions I love them. Wondering about going for P1 sometime to experience what that's like and to move towards LTG at a faster pace.
I started to look for ways to earn more SCs and points before joining AFF. Think my first thread was after I had booked SYD-BNE-SIN-BKK for not much more than a SYD-BKK direct flight as I wanted more SCs.
