I fear it will be my one and only time so had to brag about it.

If you cant brag about that here - then where can you.... :)

Congrats, do try to get into the MEL or SYD F Lounge before you drop back

Congratulations, now across the ditch with you to see our Kiwi friends. Allow plenty of Flounge time in MEL or SYD then sample the EK lounge in AKL on return.

Agree with the first part but unless flying EK it's getting harder to get into their AKL lounge these days.

Ok you make a valid point, as QFF platinum I assume access for myself + 2 guests and 1 child is not a problem at the QANTAS lounge in Melb or Syd but what happens to the outbound flight from NZ? What lounge access could I get?

Technically WP's only have one guest on international flights (OWE have two, but that's an argument you'll have to have with the lounge dragons). Outbound from NZ, you'll have access to the Qantas First lounge or the (superior, but busier) EK lounge.
QF will usually either have their own lounge or contract out to someone else at every airport they fly to.

Anyway, enjoy! I'm about to drop back to Gold after my single year of WP and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Try and fly via HKG, if you can, to experience the Pier. :)

hmm :( does anybody have any suggestions for lounge access as per Eija (if a NZ trip was planned) other than leaving 2 guests in QANTAS business lounge and myself + wife enjoying the F lounge?

It's been known that a polite request will get you an extra guest, although don't get your expectations up I'm afraid.

You could post in the lounge meet ups thread requesting access but depends on if someone is flying the same day as yourself.

WP is great! DSC helped me get it last year and retain it this year.

I flew in paid discount J on QF9 to LHR with two others (also in the same fare class on the one booking) and was allowed a second guest in. I was stoked! I wasn't at all confident that they'd let me take a second guest in, but the check-in lady asked upstairs and they said yes! One can't rely on it though.

One of my guests was a SG who got to WP when they got back from the return trip to LHR. The other was a PS that reached SG from the trip. So if we go again next year we'll all get in with no issues.

Congratulations.

Don't forget to wear thongs and Bintang singlet when visiting the SYD F lounge.

Congratulations! I also made it to QF platinum on Tuesday after the last weeks BA flights credited. I am in a fortunate situation in that I am now London based so fly through LHR so get an F lounge for every flight either BA T5 or CX F for T3. Now trying to wrangle a flight from a T3 to check out the CX F and hopefully the new QF lounge when it opens

I witnessed a denial at the MEL FLounge Monday night. Near empty lounge but the Passenger - who was traveling with what appeared to be two young adult children - was politely informed that if he wished lounge access for more than one guest he needed to visit the Business Lounge.
