Have a PER-SYD (rtn) trip coming up later this month.

Keen understand how to identify whether my J seat will be the new J, the old J or the wanna-be J (the cough ones with the tray over the middle seat).

Any ideas appreciated.

I think the "cough ones" were only on the 734s and they don't have them any more afaik.

Some other clues for the types of seating if faced with a 2+2+2 configuration

Missing 1D = old Jetstar J

A330-300 = Skybed mark 1

A330-200 if missing rows 23 and 24 D-G in economy then J seats are domestic economy J seats

Not sure how many of the A330-200 with Skybed mark 1's remain but a 2+2+2 configuration with a galley between rows 3 and 4 is a Skybed Mark 1 configuration

As mentioned above 1+2+1 is the new layout

The OP is referring to the A332 business product, to which there are 5 possible seat types one may experience, with two of the five being beds, the others are recliners.

Indeed.

It's disappointing, however, that with every new thread comes the need for a member to peruse each of them to find the answer (the growing number of threads seeking assistance with lounge access, despite their being a dedicated sticky on the very topic, is a case in point).

The poor search feature that the forum's platform offers doesn't help.

There's only one type of A330 that has the tray infill in the middle seat - you can tell from the seat map because there's a void between the middle two seats. I think there's three (?) aircraft still flying with that config.

I've just this second spotted that, as I can select a seat a 'D' seat, then it does unfortunately look like this A332 is one of the coughpy ones!

Actually John, there are two types currently as you are forgetting the ex-JQ birds currently in the fleet that also have the middle seat blocked off.
