Hi,

My parents are flying Qantas business class (via SYD) to Heathrow and I'm dropping them off at the airport. I was wondering what my chances are of being able to enter the MEL domestic lounge?

I don't think that they can invite a guest, and my QC membership says I need to be flying as well. Is there any chance of them letting me in?

Thanks.

Melbourne Lounge Dragons are the worst in the country.

I don't like your chances.

I've done this a few times, i just flash my card as i walk through as if i am going to get my boarding pass from the service desk. if in doubt carry one of their bags. worst case you can say you were helping them.

you won't get into the J lounge though..

I try to mix it up whenever I use the MEL QP just to see what they do - often will show SG card only or BP only; have not yet had them ask to see the other. I am always carrying a bag anyway, so it's pretty clear I'm traveling. Often with guests, they've been satisfied with the SG card only.

Of course, the few times I've used mobile checkin, I have to scan it, so there's no doubt either way.

It's luck of the draw really - worst case scenario is they won't let you in, more likely if it's during a peak period.

Sounds like it's best to bluff my way in rather than ask nicely? It's Monday morning around 10.30am.

Worst? I would suggest possibly they are the best at interpreting and applying the documented access policies.

Looking from that angle they are the finest in the country.

In reality, your parents are entitled to emply the Domestic J lounge before their business class flight.

However, no they haven't any guesting privileges, although there may be some discrtion used by the lounge attendants.

Personally, I would not bother. Parking costs are high and the service/catering in the International J lounge has apparently be upgraded recently.

Very amusing and all too true!

Was flying JQ without SG on person card and "she" wouldn't let me in. Would not look up my memebrship on her pc either!
