Title says it all...

Please post which card you have and how many points you earn per month on average from your CC spend..

Perhaps a Moderator can add a poll to this thread? I can see the option of adding a poll but all it allows me to do is select options, not sure how I can label those options to something like, 0-1000, 1000-5000, 5000-10,000 and so on...

Well I dont earn as much as I have heard people earning everymonth.

But I earn 6k a month on ANZ Plat & about 3k a month on NAB Plat. All personal spend, but I wish I could put it on a business cards & start earning mega points.

Oh & zainman you started this thread but never stated how many points you earn a month

Qantas says 17000 per month on average. I have no idea which card earns what. Then there would be Amex MR points.

15k +/month average, on Commbank Diamond cards - The Amex helps the earn and then just slide them across to Velocity when there is a bonus scheme on.

Probably not the greatest earner, but it suits me fine.

Edit: my maths is not the best... Its closer to 20k average... but thats running my card and wifes companion card, we put everything on it.

Well I like to maximise and optimise my earn...so first point is that I never think one card...just as I do not think one airline, or even one alliance...or FF program for redeeming.

This year is shaping as a bad year as everything has tightened up. So will only earn less than half that.

The last few years I have managed to earn almost a million coughulative points per year from say about $150K put through cards. This last year will be no where near those levels, as there has been a scarcity of bonus earning promos, and attractive sign-on bonii. Lean times for point running.

Amex has been the main source of points. Citibank has had its moments.

according to the Qantas site we have averaged around 50,000 points per month, however as this month was nearly 200,000 I would think the average is more like 35,000 and will drop significantly next year when we move to full retirement and close the business. Picked up wonderful info on here about paying tax via CC which made a huge difference to CC spend - better late than never :). We use one card and put everything through it. Anz platinum visa with Amex. Amex earns at 1.5 points per $. I am sure there are better cards, but we are comfortable with ANZ and if anything goes wrong I can call on my relationship manager to sort things out.

I use the Amex Edge for groceries and petrol (3x & 2x) and the NAB Amex (1.5x) for other Amex spend not incurring fees. Citi Visa Select (1.33x) gets the rest.
NAB Amex is free with my banking. Would much prefer to have a Westpac card earning the same 1.5x points without the $100k monthly limit and more importantly able to warehouse points.
Unless able to earn points in a hurry, maintaining flexibility on airlines is I think essential as the game is constantly changing and warehousing points gives you a fighting chance to redeem on equitable terms.

You really don't need huge credit limits as you can reload a big four bank credit card very quickly and keep running.
Yes the flexibility of the warehousing of points is one of the great features of too few credit cards. Transferring points when you are ready can be based on an airline promotion of points bonuses or redemption discounts or flight availability in the style you desire.
I may have taken points making too far but it's just a game and working less meant I could play more.
Now if I could get Accor/Novotel to cough up for my Brisbane Airport stay and my Ningaloo stay I would be a happy little Vegemite. I don't plan to use them again this century.

The cards I have had this year and already cancelled are - Jetstar and Qantas Staff Credit Union, I have kept my NAB plat visa/amex (1.5 points per $), WOWEDRCC and Macquarie (5 points per $ on select items) and just applied for the ANZ plat yesterday. In total (thanks Qantas activity statement) I have on average earned 14500 points per month. I am only a salary and wage earner and have no way to generate points by using a business and getting the tax free benefit those who have business are currently able to do.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

are you guys just dividing the points earned in the last 12 months by 12 or is there an actual section on the QF website that tells you a per month average statistic or something?

I earn around 10-15k points a month on my DJ amex and ANZ platinum (visa and amex)

You have the same cards as I do , the DJ Amex card earns QFF2.25 Points per $1 at Woolies & Coles AS WELL as all Major Petrol Stations.

A great little Earner on Groceries & Petrol.

The ANZ Plat Amex earns 1.5 QFF Points per $1...... use that everywhere other than those listed above.

No probs what so ever with either card so far held both for just under a year, unlike HSBC who are totally incompetent in my view (le IE Screwing up my own Credit File with a mistaken Identity..... I could write a lecture on it all, wont bore you on it :)

This is the screen for the current 30 days and is pretty average. Spending is personal. I probably miss out on another 10k in potential points per month for charges I can't put through my credit cards. The new Qantas card might be useful for those charges.

Current Cards are DJ Amex Plat, QCU Plat, Macquarie Plat and Bankwest Qantas Plat. I'm about to ditch the Macquarie Plat and most likely the QCU Plat.

12 months/12 for me. I do know those numbers are wrong. They miss somethings like bonus points. Last time I audited it the total was about 40000 to 60000 points behind.

Between CBA Diamond Amex and WW MCs Mrs Paddy and I manage 40K points per month in 12/13.
Unfortunately employment change this year will probably see that halve this year

This thread is clearly full of high rollers.

I had a Qantas Amex premium card and I was lucky if I could earn 1,000-1,500 QFF points per month as I only ever used it to purchase Qantas airfares.

I am also surprised how many points people are earning via CC alone. JohnK one tip I would do if you already don't, is pay your parents bills online with a CC and get your Mother a supp CC for when she goes shopping.

You are forgetting she an old fashion person that is used to dealing in using cash and it is very difficult to change.

I have worked extremely hard and have managed to get a mothers sympathy for some things and many times I buy her a $500 Wish card which she uses for shopping and gives me the money when she has finished using it.

Shouldn't be that hard. Let your mum deal with you in cash. :D

I'm personally surprised by your low numbers. roughly, I'd expect your taking $150 to $200 of flights a week - $600 to $800 a month for your commute that should earn 1.5 points per dollar or 2.5 points per Qantas dollar. Then rent in Brisbane, plus food, plus eating out....

My mother is 72 and old fashion but now does all her grocery shopping with a CC and she just gives me cash later. She actually likes it as she doesn't have to carry around cash or a big wallet/bag. Plus she is less of a target for any potential bag snatchers.

Mum is stubborn (you can see where I got my stubborness from ;) ) and often frowns at most things I do/have done.

She loves to help me out with Everyday Rewards and even using Wish cards but that is where she draws the line.

I only do ~35 returns SYD-BNE per year as I spend ~9-10 weeks overseas and I do spend some weekends in BNE. My flights are not that expensive especially when we throw OOL into the mix when SYD-BNE is too expensive. I know purchase for both Qantas and Virgin flights.

Rent I am not convinced I want to pay 2%+ on ~$15,600 yearly to earn credit card points. I really do need to purchase extra points as I am generating heaps.

I hardly spend any money on food. Do not eat out as I cook my own and mum helps out when she cooks things like stuffed capsicums, stuffed vine/cabbage leaves.
