How many people actually fly F in their lives?

I've never actually flown F long haul. Lots of J, most of the time, i just can;t justify the price. (to myself, not the accountant)

I'm with the consensus here, certainly less than 1%, more like 0.4 or 0.5%. but the amount who paid full fare...? I'd say >0.1% with upgrades, deals, op-ups, general freebies and the like.

I have said to myself, one day I will.
 
Some quick maths (assuming we are talking aussies here):

Australia has about 25 million people. If 0.5 % have flown F that is 125,000 of them.

I severely doubt the number is that high....
 
I wouldn't hazard a guess as to what proportion of the population has flown long-haul F. I guess most people wouldn't even think of it as being feasible - and long may it stay that way ;).

I have quite a few times, usually as points upgrades or awards on QF and EK.

However, in the last year of the 20-sector xONEx (2008), I bought an AONE4 (or maybe it was a 5). That included 8 long or long-ish haul flights: QF SYD-JFK and JNB-SYD, BA SFO-LHR, LHR-DXB, DXB-LHR, LHR-IST, IST-LHR, LHR-MRU.
 
Yes it probably isn't too many as First Class gets filled up with many of the same people doing Groundhog Day runs.
 
We've done our duty and introduced two young Aussies to the pleasure of F travel .... I've done my bit to ensure they'll replace two that have/will drop from the list ;)

Amongst the lurkers on here slightly higher and amongst the active contributing members much, much higher. As to who has regularly paid full freight F amongst us though that would be very small numbers, we know better than that ;)
 
I have never flown long haul F and that will more than likely remain that way. To be honest I think F is totally overrated. I have sat in an F seat long haul and I have had many short haul F flights. I am not into wines or champagne and I am not paying that much (including points) for a meal. I don't rate the product that highly.

In saying that wife and daughter are flying F in June whilst I slum it in business. They don't know yet. Wife thinks the surprise is me flying business and them flying economy. I am not going to tell her until that morning when she guests me into the SQ F lounge. I think. She will appreciate the F flight even though she does not drink. I will more than likely take daughter off her hands for a little while so she can sleep but it is a morning flight so probably just relax. We need to go back to economy after these flights as I don't want to spoil daughter too much.
 
I have once, which was a MEL>SIN>MEL (not sure if that qualifies for long haul) SQ award redemption thanks to NAB gifting me 250K points when I refinanced and the information on this forum.

Out of my friends and family, I believe that I would be the only one that has ever flown F. So out of a small sample size there that would make it 1-2%

Sorry FF I hadn’t realized our family was such a big problem.
It became so much worse when one of my sons started getting his girlfriend into Suites and off Tiger. I think those two will miss me when I am gone.
I think her mum and dad were surprised as they always flew business class on paid for tickets.
 
In spirit of the WP acronym, should this group be FCW? But of course completely different to the First Class W..ers I knew at work!
As a FCW wannabe, I've mused on how many at the pointy end are paying for all the fare themselves; not staff/points/company nor even tax deduction subsidised. Now there's a very small group!

Judging by the mix of astonishment and jealousy that I receive from most of my work colleagues when I mention my preference for the 'pointy end' (as much as I hate that term), I'd say very very few. I have only outright paid for F twice though while I pretty regularly do so for J class on holiday travel.

I generally find upgrades to F the best use of points and would honestly say that you haven't lived until you've enjoyed some longhaul flights in a good F class. But I'm both a foodie and a boozer and can very well imagine that it all seems quite overrated if you're neither of these.
 
Back in the good old JASA (PASA) days I flew SIN-LHR-SIN on QF in First on the A380. They were the days. The only other time was EK AKL-SYD, even though the flight was shorter the cognac was better on EK, Hennessy Paradis but I am not sure they serve that anymore.

I'd mostly agree with this. I feel it can't be above 0.01%.

Quick back of envelope math: QF flies five flights a day with a true F out of Australia currently (SYD-DFW, SYD-LAX, MEL-LAX, MEL-DXB, SYD-DXB, ignoring SYD-HKG as not F service). These have 14 seats each. This is just over 25,000 F seats per year, one-way. 25,000 is just over about 0.1% of the total population of Australia. Of course, seats go empty, and people from other countries are in these seats as well. And, surely, many of these flyers are repeat flyers who have flown F before, with a number of them repeat flyers from the previous 12 months even. Of course, there are other carriers flying F into and out of Australia, but this is just to give an idea of the numbers.

Then again, not only have I flown F a number of times, but I've actually flown every currently flying QF F route (darn SIN switch is going to mess that up!)...but I'm also American and not Australian so that doesn't help the numbers, and in fact hurts them by blocking that many Aussies from those seats I was in :D.
