How long until you get to LTP? (Or are you already there ^_~)

At my current rate, I'll be hitting LTP sometime around the year 2300.

(I currently do not have enough forward bookings to retain PS by the end of this year...)

My sense is with the introduction of the new LTP level QF are acknowledging they messed up the original LTS 7K and LTG 14K and pegged them way too low

I think you're 100% correct on this front. When introduced it probably seemed like a high bar (based on average SC counts at the time), but judging by the number of people on this forum, people I work with etc that are LTG already with many years left of their lives indicates that it's not as difficult as one would think - add in all the recent DSCs and targeted offers as well...

Woah! What were your travel patterns in the last few years? Guessing fortnightly long haul J/F mainly on QF metal.

We would be a lot closer if Westpac Kris Flyer had not hijacked us into flying on Kris Miles over the past decade.

Been a QF FF since 1995. Flying patterns have changed over the years. Prior to 4 March 2002 (Ansett collapse) I split my travel between AN (Domestic) and QF (International). Travel through until 2003 was majority domestic in Y. Between 2003 - 2006 it was 75% domestic Y and 25% international J. Between 2006 - 2011 it was all Y with 25% domestic and 75% international. Post the transition from Tier Credits to Status Credits I've average around 4,000 SC's per year with the majority being earned in Y. From 2011 - 2015 I was fortunate enough to have a role that allowed me to earn between 7,000 - 11,500 SC's per year with the majority of earn being in international J. Since 2015 it has all been in Y (both domestic and international). I've been a P1 since launch in 2011. Most of the newer tech companies I've worked for over the last 8yrs+ have an all Y travel policy regardless of level.

The LTP status is a nice add. Time will tell with the benefits. Everyone, including the families of those who are required to travel frequently for work miss out on a bunch of significant events including birthdays, anniversaries, parent teacher interviews, etc. The benefit I would like to see is the ability to have FF seats for the FF and their immediate family on the dates, flights and class requested. This way the FF has the opportunity to say a big thank you to those that miss out due to the extensive travel.

According to a previous thread from 2016, I expect @ChrisGibbs will be receiving a call in September, per this post and perhaps @docjames as well. As these members are both still fairly active on AFF, perhaps they would be willing to share a few details as they find them out.
I’m not even close nor likely to ever be.

I do have at least one relative who’ll have made it already (easily). Will advise when (if) I know anything useful.

Based on my last four or five years of travel I’d possibly get there in 12 to 15 years. But that is not going to happen for a variety of reasons, principally I’m highly unlikely to need (and sure don’t want) to travel that much going forward, and when I do I’m finding other carriers often a lot better. I’ll still fly QF enough to retain WP more often than not so that’ll do me.

While I initially thought the mere introduction of LTP was a good move as it encouraged flying QF even when I’d be otherwise earning redundant SCs, I now think setting the bar at 75K is a very poor decision by QF. Seems to me it will actually turn a lot of people away knowing they’ll never achieve it.

After a few days reflection that’s my take on it as well, it’s a decision that will backfire and cost Qantas.

Previously people would be loyal post LTG in the hope that LTP might be introduced one day and those SC aren’t wasted.

Now you know you aren’t going to reach it so why bother staying with QF after LTG?

Certainly unachievable for almost everyone.

The 75k is a bit insane. I agree that people who had been hoping for it to be added will now look at giving up on QFF with that high a bar, as many others already do once they reach LTG. I was also looking at other programs to change to upon earning LTG, but the ones that seemed most appealing seemed too complex (JL) or had just changed the program to that joining wouldn't be worth it (CX).

Had they set the level following the amounts set by LTS and LTG, either 21k for the +7k option, or 28k for the double LTG option, many more people would have already earnt LTP or been close, which may have cost QFF to much on projections.
A more reasonable level would have been 3 or 4 times LTG (42k or 56k).

Is that the case? I always assumed one banked LTG, and unless there was a benefit in staying with QF, moved elsewhere. Loyalty is not in the equation for me, it is pure commerciality.

You don't think the letters will look good on your Business Card.

You know, something like, 'Tony Hancock LTP' ?

Well, I am currently on 31,089 LTSCs. so at my current 120 SC/year it will be 2384 for me to achieve LTP.
I earned 3000/year for three years but WP1 came in after my high flying days came to an end.

I now live in the UK and use low cost carriers for holiday flights, with the occasional trip back to Perth on Emirates, the J lounges are nice, but other than that ..... meh.

I certainly do not envy you, especially 4 years of Y.
Interesting about the tech companies, are they mainly Australian? And not that mature (guess that's what you mean by "newer")?
You could say Facebook is a "newer tech company".

Currently averaging Gold status and should reach Life time Gold in 2023 or 2024.
For me to make Life time platinum is about 99 years away so 2108, so I don't think I will reach it.

Just hoping I can reach life time gold before the goal posts change, so I am glad it wasn't taken away just yet.

Thought Qantas might have been a bit creative, include only flights on Qantas metal, and made it something attainable but I am sure Qantas ran the numbers to see who would already qualify and who was close at reaching it.
