How long until you get to LTP? (Or are you already there ^_~)

I’m just about to tick over to LTG and on very rough maths assuming the same travel pattern and no program changes it’s almost four decades away and I will be 83 years young before I get to LTP.

It may as well not be there from my perspective, because it offers me no incentive to stick to QF post LTG as LTP is so far away and realistically unachievable.

So the likelihood is still I look elsewhere after LTG.

How far away are you or are you already there?

Solid, sorry, I just posted a thread with some calculations of times and cost to attain LTP.

Mods, perhaps these should be merged?? Or leave this thread for each of our estimated qualifying times?

In any case, I think I have about 25K SC, but have jumped ship already. To get to LTP now will probably see me into the year 3019.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

At my current rate, it would take me another 16.32 years.

However, since achieving LTG I’ve changed my earning to BA FF program.

In any case, as @GPH and I just discussed, why would anyone bother? WP can be achieved for around $ 2,500 every year with a bit of creative thinking.
I obviously need more of your creativity because I can’t get near that

When I heard LTP would be a possibility I thought 50,000 SC's would be the number. Having 51,400 SC's has put me in no man's land. Member for 31 years, at my current rate of earning ...another 15 years should do it.

I’m probably never going to reach LTG so no chance of LTP. I’ve slipped back to SG and don’t even know if I’ll ever return to WP status, just too many better and cheaper options out there that I’d rather put my money towards rather than staying on the QF hamster wheel

Anyone with less than 40,000 status credits is literally better off STOPPING with Qantas, and crediting ALL their flights to BAEC.
You can earn 35,000 TP with BA (which earns lifetime Oneworld Emerald) faster by starting from ZERO, than it is starting from 40,000 status credits with QF in order to attain lifetime Oneworld Emerald.

QF Emerald is hands down the most difficult (by a factor of 2x) Oneworld lifetime Emerald to attain.

Qantas has 100% lost the plot. It has to be a political move.

Well I’m 29% of the way there but pretty much just re-qualify year on end with fortnightly domestic and 1-2 o/s trips per year. At this rate it’s take 44 years, so not even gonna bother.

Have a work colleague who is sitting on 69K. Probably the closet one of people I know.

I have thought about it but never proceeded any further. Any pros or cons?
Does BAEC punish you for using another carrier like QF does with MH or CX?
We do a couple of flights to Asia most years with MH or CX ex Australia and the SC earn is appalling so would be nice to find a OW program that gives us full value

If you can do 4~ with BA it's easy. Codeshares count too.

BA, like QR, are true Oneworld advocates and don't discriminate against other airlines.

QR is excellent too.

This was my back of a fa_ packet calculation.
I don’t believe QF LTP is anything other than a gimmick. It’s not achievable for people who do spend their working life attaining Platinum so why call it that?

Would take me ~25 years taking into account my current SC lifetime count and using past four year average SC earn making me 54 at time of attainment. Possible - yes, worth it - absolutely not. Think I'll get to LTG and reassess after that

DSC Platinum retention is basically simple.
Id like the $2,500 version please, but for the non-creatives, $5,500 domestic spend would do the trick!

Better still, just accumulate non-flying FF POINTS and fly J/F

DSCs & Sale Fares combined with indirect flights to DPS & NOU are a couple.

I’ve never done a Status Run
without turning it into a holiday, so obviously it’s going to cost more for transfers, food & accomodation. I’ve never pushed myself to do it all for the lowest price. Just know that it can be done.

I only book J and only when there is a sale.

There is a Status Run table on AFF somewhere, and I recall @ianthongy doing a Status Run to include many flights throughout the USA.

There are also short flights hopping around Asia reaping cheap status credits.
