It is a good lounge, but personally I prefer the F lounge at DXB......maybe the novelty hasn't worn off yet.
The MEL F lounge is comparable to SYD F lounge and I would not waste money on 1 nights accommodation just to try it out.

DXB's F lounge is like a huge lounge-room with its classical furniture. However, my problem is that if you're travelling SYD-LHR you'll be there around 1am, or if travelling back you'll be there around 8am, and probably very tired - not the time to enjoy their facilities properly. In Sydney most flights give us the chance to have some hours to enjoy the F lounge before commencing our long-haul flight.

Has anyone received a humiliating 'dig' at SYD Flounge entrance and counter for flying JQ35 to Melbourne? I received 2 shots on my way in on Tuesday. I even had to produce my Qantas Platinum Card. Neither of these women knew the rest of my (Qantas) itinerary or the reason for my trip. They did not know that my travelling companion is suffering from PTSD and awaiting biopsy results. They did not know I had received a call minutes earlier from my dad to advise No further treatment available and he could be gone before Xmas. Needless to say, I was left speechless and blushing. We only had 15 minutes there and thank goodness our delightful waiter treated us like royalty....and yes, he was well aware of our Jetstar Boarding passes. All I can say is OUCH! Were these comments inappropriate?

No need for staff to make cheeky comments.Has anyone received comments at SYD Flounge entrance and counter for flying JQ35 to Melbourne? Are comments inappropriate?
Very poor.
Indeed. It's one step away from being the social leper travelling in whY.
I was almost certain it showed my Platinum status on the Jetstar Boarding Card, however you don't get to keep them when you fly Domestic on an International Flight, so I can't check. Never mind, I was happy to produce it.
That wouldn't be too far off how the BA dragon treated my father and I entering the BA lounge at LHR T3 whilst traveling back home on QF.
I have not visited either SYD or MEL F lounges but it seems for next year to LAX I have a choice, I could either fly the day before to SYD and jump on QF11 or leave from MEL on QF93.
Is the SYD F lounge that much better than the MEL lounge that I should route my trip through SYD ?
It won't cost me anymore in flights, just a nights accomodation, though I haven't been to SYD for a while so wouldn't mind that.
Suggestions ?
The little extra SCs going to MEL wouldn't hurt anyone.
