Ok, I've just booked a QFF Award ticket from JFK-YUL and the taxes were a whopping $2.50USD. :p I was just wondering, has anyone else noticed taxes so low/been able to take advantage of them?

It'll cost QF more in Amex fees than the taxes alone. :D

Interestingly, taxes on the AA website on top of the fare cost are $10.50.

This just makes the taxes on a BNE-SYD sector look like a joke.

There are no fuel fines for domestic US Awards (or ticket purchases). This is what makes the bulk of the difference.

Great aren't they? Taxes for our SFO-HNL tickets were $2.50ea too!

Unfortunately it only applies to domestic flights though. My award DFW-MEX tickets last year incurred a fair bit more in taxes.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Was your flight a return booking? littl_flier's booking was for JFK-YUL, no mention of return, as taxes for a return award booking JFK-YUL-JFK are $42USD!

Hmm silly me, of course, YUL is an int'l destination. :)

Yes mine was a return booking. Forget exactly how much taxes were, but ~$70AUD seems to ring a bell.

CHeers,

dajop, is was a one way. Those Canadian Airport improvement fees (about $33 USD from memory) makes things YUL-JFK quite expensive. It seems to be $39.43CAD for that sector.

Is $2.50 the standard cost for USA departing sectors? (ie. Febs' SFO-HNL flight)

On one way fares with NZ ex-LAX (I've bought LAX-AKL and LAX-NAN) the "taxes" come to a total of USD $22.10... (15 + 2.50 + 4.50)

Wish I hadn't gone back to check that though... the LAX- NAN fare is now USD$50 cheaper than when I bought it... ah well....;)

Just noted that a "YQ" charge (fuel?) of USD$90 is included in the fare.. but not listed as a tax....

One way AKL-LAX "tax" is NZD$58.10

One way SYD-LAX.. "tax" is AUD $233.... Typical.
